Things You Should Know When Considering Moving to San Antonio, Texas

San Antonio, Texas1.  If you don't like hot things you might want to stay put.

2.  Bill Miller's is quintessential eating. We know its not the best BBQ & we don't care cause we can feed a family of 5 for $20 & its better than cheap burgers.

3.  Margaritas - the official beverage.

4.  We don't like being compared to Austin; we're better!

5.  Dallas folks are "Yankees"

6.  A "Taco" doesn't necessarily mean ground beef in a crunchy corn shell. Its anything stuffed into a 10" flour tortilla.  So, you should say "crunchy" if that's what you mean, or "burrito" if you want bigger & rolled up.  We eat tacos 24/7, literaly. Breakfast (chorizo & egg), lunch (bean & cheese), dinner (fajita), late night snack (potatoe & egg). Just ask the guys at Chachos at 2am!

7.  The last two weeks of April are a city-wide holiday.  Don't expect to get much done. Refer to Fiesta for more information. I went to the UT San Antonio Alumni party & parade Monday night. I'm heading out to NIOSA tomorrow night. The kids will be off Friday to attend the Battle of the Flowers parade Friday. King William's Fair Saturday. Oh what fun!

8. "San Antonio" - not "San Antone" - regardless of what John Wayne says.

9.  If you don't love the SPURS, you will.

10.  We love our military even more so be extra nice when you see them all over town.  And buy them a taco if you can.

Now that you know the rules, you can call Cathy Bureau (210) 560-1891 to get a free tour & a Bill Miller or Chachos meal while looking for affordable San Antonio, Texas homes!

My favorite restaurant in San Antonio is Casa Rio... which I believe is the picture in your Blog.  Great food in an incredible location!

John - Just having a fun time! I lived in Dallas for a decade before I moved here. It took me years to quit saying "burrito"  When I tour out of towners they always ask, "What's up with Bill Miller?" - There's one every mile in every direction, lol!  You can get a full plate of BBQ for $5.00!  It's never cool here, except Dec-Feb.

Well if BBQ and tacos are the food of choice, I would fit right in. Have a great night, Cathy.

I may move just for Bill Millers BBQ alone however when you refer yourself as Yankees, I just hope that is not a Yankee fan. I have to say internet in the Bahams is less than stellar as i could not always get on AR to read and comment this week. It just wont download the page...

@ Scott - I can't believe you were blogging in the Bahamas!!!!! It was really a blessing to prevent you from taking time from relaxing at the beach. Now that I said that, lets see who notices me commenting when I'm in Playa Del Carmen this summer :-D I will, but only in the weird hours of the night when I wake up and can't turn on a tv.  I hope you had a super time!

@ Marco - I would take you to La Hacienda de Barrios for their special plate with fajitas, green olives, & a little tiny volcano-like fire on the table.

@ Debbie - Let me know if you're ever here! It's a fabulous place to vacation as Marco can attest.

@ Gary - Just having some fun with my city :-D  But no joke about the hot!

@ John - You can handle the heat and chilis. We have that in common for sure.

@ Anna - Oh girl, there is so much to do here and a fun place to visit. You should do one our meetups one day!

Cathy...my family loves tacos both crunchy and soft so tacos 24/7 sounds great! Every Wednesday we have taco night...it has become a family tradition. Now I know if we ever visited San Antonio, we would always be able to find something we all like to eat!
