Smudging the Azalea ~ Wordless Wednesday

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with MoonDancer Realty, Dillsboro,NC NC# 218097
Which photo is the artier of the two?  I captured a photo of this azalea just at dusk, right before the rain started yesterday.  Since Picnik is no longer available I've been using PicMonkey to edit my photos.  Other than a little cropping, there are no special effects on this first shot.

Then I had a little fun with the editing.  This effect is called smudging.  I kind of like it.

The smudged one looks like it was painted on fabric.  I like #1 best

Hi Mona, When I saw the word "smudging" I thought you were using sage to remove the bad energy from an azalea bush.....     Both are beautiful photos.  Lovely colors.  Picnik is missed. You have a great Office Manager by the way.

The fist is artier I think. The last looks like a stock photo more so.

Mona:

Both photos are beautiful.  The second photo looks like it an impressionist art work.  Very nice.

Hi Mona, Very much like a pastel on linen. Very niice. Use it sparingly for special things and I think you will get lots of compliments.

Mona, I like them both. Really like the focus in the first and the second looks like art on canvas!

Hi Sara, I thought it looked like a view through sheer fabric.

Gloria, lol.  Azalea bushes are notorious for bad energy.  You made me laugh.  The Office Manager is a real asset to us.

Hi Laura, I like the first one best too, although I wouldn't mind a t-shirt looking like the second one.

Thanks Evelyn, it was fun to play around with it.

Hello William, sparingly would be the key.  If you used effects like that too often then they wouldn't be very special.  Nice to see you.

Hi Andrea, I'll bet you'd buy a t-shirt with that print on it too.  We already know your little girls would like it.  Pink and all, lol.

Both lovely, but I'm going with the smudged one as my favorite.  That's probably how it would look after a few shaken...with a twist.  ;~)

Hey Mona-I like the effect of the smudging on the background-can you keep the subject intact and smudge around it?

Hi DeeDee, thanks...maybe I'll go into fabric design!

Roger...do you think the smudged azalea would make a cool pattern for accent pillows?

Marco, I don't know...I didn't try it and I'm not sure how flexible PicMonkey is yet with those editing tools.  I'll try though because that would be really interesting.

Hi Wayne, thanks.  Sort of looks like a Florida photo, doesn't it?

I kind of like the first one. But like Allen, depends on what you're using it for. Beautiful and striking color though!

I sure do, if you've got something that works with those colors.

Tammy, thanks. I like the first one for most things and could look at it longer.

Roger...no big deal...we have white azaleas, flame azaleas, red azaleas...

Hi Mona,

Yes smudging is very interesting and it makes it look like an oil painting almost. Thanks for the lesson.

Thanks Kristin, it's fun to play around with the effects.

Sheila, We went to a business after hours today at a gallery and the photographer prints his photos to fabric.  They were pretty fabulous.
