Made reservations on 5/1/2013 for Mother's Day dinner. Of course, this is a family event.  I was told that no reservations for parties larger than six could be accommodated because tables are permanently fixed to the floor!

I inquired as to how people were dressing for dinner and was told they were very casual, jeans are OK.

The background sounds on the phone, along with the above info made me think this is a "sports bar variant", not the elegant kinda place stated in the review by LaNita.

Now I have to hope one of my kids will be out of town on Mother's Day, or cancel my reservation.

I was there last night and it is more upsacle and far from a sports bar.  There are only 2 tvs in the place and they are behind the bar and muted.  It is a bit pricey but the food is excellant! Great wines and even speciality beers on tap and in bottle.

J. Laude - You "hope" one of your kids will be out of town on Mother's Day or cancel my reservation? That doesn't even make sense! LOL! I can't imagine stating that I hope one of my kids will be out of town for Mother's Day. Common-sense would tell me instead of making reservations here, to find another place. You obviously are giving a fake review/comment for whatever odd reason.

In response to La Nita's above comment:

No, it is not a "fake review"' but it is a true recitation of my experience making a reservation.  What restaurant can't handle a party of seven people?  Much less what pricey, upscale restaurant can't accommodate ANY sized party, particularly on a holiday like Mother's Day?

I kept the reservation, one son's significant other person can't attend.

I am looking forward to the food.

Maybe making a reservation on public opening day happened to involve somebody terribly inexperienced in that job.

As further follow up to the above last two comments:

I just talked to a reservationist at Bakersfield Restaurant.  Their staff is getting quite a few inquiries regarding parties larger than six, and staff is HOPING that when the initial rush of starting up is over, management will obtain the resources to accommodate parties larger than six.  For now six all they can seat together.

The place has no color, very bland tables, no candles or light on tables, very dark!!  No flowers anywhere, even fake ones, food was good, but one can't see what they are eating because it is sooooo dark.  I lived in CA for 10 years and the resturants were not this dark and without personality.

Waitor was very nice however.
