Who’s on your Real Estate Team?

Who's on your Real Estate Team?
My personal opinion is that real estate “teams”, meaning a group of 2 or more agents operating their real estate business as a “team”, is not something I am comfortable with, it is  not my style.

Your real estate team should function much like a softball team. You are the pitcher, on the mound surrounded by the other players, catcher (your Realtor®), first base (Lender), second base (Title company) and third base (inspectors: home, well, septic, radon, etc.). The other field positions are filled with licensed contractors who can correct any negotiated issues with the property. On the bleachers are your circle of friends and family whom you draw support, opinions and confide in for major decisions in your life. In my personal opinion, that’s a winning team.

My team is 14 Real Estate Professionals strong. I have 2 Listing Agents, 8 Buyers agents, and 4 "Hybrid" Agents that are both Listing and Buyer agents, a Closing Coordinator and my assistant. No softball involved,  just a lot of sales. Lenders, Title companies, Inspectors, etc... are there to support us, only after we make the sale.

Diane, For us, it's the two of us operating together, each with different skill sets that complement.  We also have the other supporting team members, although the buyers often come with their own lender and sometimes a preference for home inspectors.  We're pretty selective as to who is on our recommended team roster.

And you must ensure the "right" people are on the team. If your softball team doesn't have skilled players...they probably won't win many games. Same holds true for a real estate team. This is why the recruiting process is critical to ensure you have the right people on the right seats on the bus.

Diane,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us....I agree a great team makes all the difference. If your working with all the right people than everything usually falls right into place.

Have a great day!
