What Do You Look for in a Real Estate Agent?

Pretend for a moment that you could choose the perfect real estate agent to work with you.  If you are What Do You Look for in a Real Estate Agent?selling your home, you will probably interview several to see who fits with your goals and personality.  If you are a buyer, you may get names from friends or co-workers, you could meet an agent at an open house, or find someone online.

But what exactly is it that you want and need.  Have you ever stopped to think about what your expectations are in a real estate agent?

One can't always know how their agent will perform until after the deal is done - and it's either you want to give their name to anyone who asks, or you never want to hear that name again. Or, more likely, something in between.

My firm, Baird & Warner, surveyed us agents what we would look for in a real estate agent.  That's an interesting survey - experienced agents asked to compile the characters of a good agent, and what we would expect from them.

Successful real estate agents know this list by heart - it is the bible by which they conduct their business.

I wish there was a way to explain the difference in real estate agents to consumers.   Just because we have a COE doesn't mean everyone is ethical.

Yvette - everyone is not ethical, that's for sure.
