Marketing Luxury Real Estate: Thursday's Thoughts/Everyone is a Genius

My father was a physicist and a philosopher.  As a kid, I loved his discourses on Quantum physics and philosophy, and my favorite quote of his about Quantum physics is "there are no spare parts (or loose screws) in the universe, everyone is valuable." Recently, I was reading Einstein's View of the World, this quote reminded me of my father, "“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” Just think, what a glorious world we would live in if we treated everyone as a genius.-  Alexandra

Happy Thursday, Cheers, Ron & Alexandra

Alexandra, your father sounded like a genuinely brilliant man. I believe there are various levels of evolution through knowledge - the more one really understands and has evolved - the more accepting and understanding of others. Yes, if we championed others and helped nurture their uniqueness and abilities, we would have a much healthier society. Labels and pigeon holing other people is inexcusable.

Have you noticed how insidious it can be? Well-meaning parents reminding a daughter she's not good at math, or telling a young man to toughen up ( implying emotions are to be kept inside)  - one would think we'd be beyond this nonsense by now...

You my darling, are a Genuis!

Your father (and Einstein) taught you well.  Isn't it fantastic when you find the life you were born to live?

Alexandra- What a brilliant philosophy. We're all smart and adept at something, we just need to find out and nurture what that is.

Alexandra, life is hard enough without being told you are not good at something... and agree with Debb's comments.   I can tell you had a wonderful relationship with your father.... and great memories you have of a genius.

Debb,

Thanks, and we are on the same page...There are many grown ups who carry those childhood wounds and believe that whatever their parents said holds true today.  However, for some standards are very hard to drop, it takes longer and is so much easier to pigeonhole and dismiss.

From one genius to another, thank you for your kind words.

Don,

Yes, it is...the funny thing about all this is I don't think one is ever done learning...that is another thing my father instilled in me.  Thanks for your comment.

Kathy,

Absolutely, and I know that is why we are passionate about brands and branding.  Thanks for commenting, and I do think it is important to find that genius in ourselves.

Rebecca,

Yes, we had a wonderful relationship, and my first words were "PaPa"!  He never forgot that, we were kindred spirits.  My mother was great also!

Toni,

Thank you...He was an intersting, magical, and mischievious spirit.  I have often thought of writing a book about him and his exploits!  The bottle brush is blooming all over town and the jacaranda is coming out just in time for a little contrast.

Silvia,

Good point on relativity, Einstein explained relativity this way, “When you are courting a nice girl an hour seems like a second. When you sit on a red-hot cinder a second seems like an hour. That's relativity.”

Have  a great weekend everybody, and thanks for commenting my fellow geniuses.  A

I LOVE this post... Alexandra!  My mother wasn't Einstein, but she subscribed to the same point of view... everyone has value!  She taught me to appreciate beauty (people, places & things) in all forms and respect them.  I couldn't have learned from a better philosopher about life... sounds like your father was very special too ;)))
