It sounds like more about insects then anything. You probably have some nice creatures that wander in. Speaking of roaches we have the hybrid type, you know the one's that wear shoes....

Cara - we might have scorpions and snakes, but I am so glad we don't have roaches here in Colorado! At least haven't found any in my house...Thanks for the tips!

Call a Marana neighbor, I'm THERE!

Winston - when I first moved here I could have swore those roaches were as big as my hand!  Now I know they are only half that size...lol!

Susanna - you are welcome.  It seems all manner of things wake up in the spring!!!

Cara, in our area ants are really bad this time of year. And they love to hang around the sink. I really hate to kill any living creature but you can't get rid of ants in the home without killing them (that I know of), and if you don't they can quickly take over a house.

Hmmm, I Googled "how you do get rid of ants without killing them" and found this on Yahoo! answers. I'm going to try it:

Use garlic water. Cut up garlic into really tiny pieces, and mix it with water. Then put it into a spray bottle or just pour it over the area where the ants are.

I understand what you are saying, Lynda.  Our neighbors cats are ALWAYS in our garden, and I've found chili pepper flakes help keep them out!!!

Great post, Cara.  One thing we use for ants is DE - going to try to spell it here - diamataceous earth.  Sprinkle it around where the ants are.

I've always used boiling water to get rid of ant mounds or a large group of ants, It'll kill the ants, but since its just hot water there is no chemicals to harm yourself or any family members or pets

We use boiling water on ant mounds too, Cara. These are really good tips for Spring.
