Southern Style Cooking at Dixie Bones BBQ

Dixie Bones BBQWhen residents of Prince William County have a hankering for southern style cooking they don’t have to look any further than Dixie Bones BBQ in Woodbridge.  You can smell the BBQ cooking as soon as you turn in the parking lot off of Occoquan Road.

Opened in Woodbridge in 1996 (previously they were in DC) Dixie Bones is not a fast food restaurant.  Instead they focus on taking the time to make great home made food from SCRATCH even including the buns for your BBQ sandwich.  As soon as you walk in the door you know why the restaurant is a popular destination for the locals.  Looking around the orange dining room you find the walls are covered with patches from law enforcement, fire fighters and military squadrons around the country.  Friendly staff are quick to greet you and as soon as you sit down you know you can order a southern staple, sweet tea!

The folks at Dixie Bones originally hailed from Alabama so I’m sure that explains the great collard greens, muddy spuds and hickory smoked BBQ.   The choice of BBQ is what you would expect, ribs, pulled pork, beef and chicken.  What is different is the choice of 4 homemade sauces that you can pour on top to get just the right mix for your taste. Dixie Bones Truck

The only problem with eating at Dixie Bones is remembering to leave room for desert.  Homemade pies are always available and trust me you don’t want to skip the pecan, coconut cream or lemon chess pie.  If you didn’t leave room, don’t worry you can buy a whole pie to take home.

So if you are hankering for good southern style cooking don’t overlook Dixie Bones BBQ in Woodbridge.  You will be glad you stopped by for a bit of home cooking.  Our family likes it so much my son and his fiancé asked me to have Dixie Bones cater their engagement party!

You should make this one rebloggable.  Who doesn't love BBQ joints.  It's some of the best comfort food around.
