This Is What A Delta County, Colorado Traffic Jam Looks Like

This Is What A Delta County, Colorado Traffic Jam Looks Like. Some of you in the larger metro areas may appreciate this kind of traffic jam, but just like anything that holds up your progress on the road, it can be frustrating. This picture was taken near Hart's Basin in Cedaredge, Colorado. I was running late, but stopped to take a picture anyway. I just have to laugh when this happens, and it does more than you realize. One time I had to stop for a flock of geese, sometimes it's sheep. It's really amazing to see the modern day cowboys and their dogs work the animals and keep them moving down the road. In a situation like this you carefully weave your car through the livestock. You have to be careful NOT to startle the animals. You don't want a cow kicking or charging your car. That behavior is what we call road rage.

Good Morning, Debbie. Now, we certainly don't have this type of traffic jam in my city. How long does it take for this jam to be cleared? I can imagine that these animals are in no hurry to get off the streets too.

Hi, Jerry. You just have to weave your car through the livestock. This was a relatively small traffic jam. So it probably only added about another five minutes to my drive time. Of course you want to stay as clear of the cows as possible. You don't want them charging or kicking your car. That behavior is what we call road rage.

Debbie, that is so funny - I laughed at your description of your Colorado traffic jam and a different type of road rage.

Hi, Juli. I'm glad I could entertain you. It's like any traffic jam...you can't do anything about it, so sit back and enjoy the show.

Some of us in urban areas dream of that kind of traffic jam.  In the suburbs of Washington, DC, we have some of the worst traffic in the country.

Have an outstanding week, with your camera in hand.

Hi, Roy. My in laws live in DC. I know about the traffic there. I hate driving there. My little town just got it's first stoplight about 8 years ago, and it's still the only one.

LOL! I bet they never get a ticket for stopping traffic. The good news is they slow people down!

Hi, Emily. No there is no ticket and livestock has even been known to go down our highway. We do have one highway here. I've been known to cruise through some of these back roads with the sunroof open and music on loud. Just one of those days blowing off some steam. It's an eye opener when you have to slow down for the cows being herded down the road, and good reminder to stay alert even when you think you're alone.

So, having a cow come at me would be pretty scary, and I drive a pickup!
