E-Signing Saves Time and Sanity

I save my time and my sanity with e-signing!  And, my clients love it too!

Docusign is the “green” wave of the future for managing contracts with ease. Docusign

As a designated Green Realtor®, I am constantly working to prevent printing anything that isn’t necessary.  Although difficult to do, as more and more document tools become available it is becoming easier to do.  I have been using DocuSign, and training other agents on it for some time now, and it is a "must have" tool.  E-signing has become so accepted by consumers, the convenience it affords them is greatly appreciated.

I have not tried the Adobe Echo product yet, as I have been using Docusign since before I found the Adobe product.  But I have to say that all of the Adobe products that I currently use are fantastic, and I believe that  anyone not yet using an e-sign product should compare the various ones available and choose what works best for them.

In regards to Docusign, their website offers some of the most common uses for electronic signature and ask:

“Have you ever stopped to consider how many different things you sign every day? Sales contracts, vendor agreements, non-disclosures, forms of every kind. It quickly adds up to a lot of paper that you must manage, sign, track, return and store.

The result? Wasted time and money. A lack of visibility and control over paper documents. Rework due to illegibility, missed signatures an rekeying of data. And a negative impact on the environment.”

Think of all of documents that most of us use on a daily basis such as our sales contract, vendor/supplier agreements, change orders and approvals, intellectual property licensing, parental consent forms and more.

I my mortgage brokerage business, many of the lenders that I work with, will not allow document signing in this manner, so I don't do it. I would be on it, in a heart beat if all would allow it. It would save a bunch of time.

Hi Lisa.  I couldn't find the free Docusign for Realtors.  There was a monthly fee.  Is there another link?  Thanks.

I have the need for a client in a far-away state to sign something about once a month.  I just email them my agreement and they "sign" it, emailing it back.  Pretty much the same I guess.

Good morning Joe,

All of the Lenders/Mortgage Brokers here accept the e-signed documents.  Some, however, have all parties physically re-sign those documents at the closing table as backup.  Maybe that procedure would work for you there - esigning certainly makes the entire transaction go faster and smoother!

Good morning Conrad,

I am checking on, as I can't get that link to download.  To get started, here is the link for Docusign Ink you can try in the interim:  http://www.docusign.com/products/docusignink.

Good morning Jay,

Depending on how they are "signing", you may not have a valid and enforceable document if it was ever needed in court.

I ask them to sign it, scan it and send it back to me.  The bottom of the agreement states that if they do it that way their emailed agreement will act as a signed agreement.  I have never tested that though!

Jay,

If they are printing the page, signing and then sending back to you, you should be fine - basically the same as a faxed signature.  I was concerned they were just typing in a signture on-line with a standard font / pdf package...that could be a problem

Great post and so true Lisa, the more on line tools we can use the better it is for the largest demographic of home buyers. They grew up with technology and want to use it at every opportunity. Save a tree, plug in. Thanks for your posting

Great topic Lisa, I have been sold on this since I was first exposed to it at this past falls state convention. Unfortunately its difficult to get the rest of the crew to give up on the huge stack of paper forms.
