The herd...

road sheep

One day when we were out we found that our access road was completely over run with a herd of sheep.

Time is always an issue but this day we did not have any pressing appointments .  That was a good thing because there was no way around this herd.

As soon as we began to accept our situation, we began to watch the spectecal unfolding all around us.

Then we saw a wagon being pulled by a truck.  It was the "sheep shack".

This was the  Living accommodations for the shepherds who were tending the sheep.

There were sheep as far as we could see.  It seemed that they just kept on coming.

Eventually they all had gone around our car and the path was once again navigable.

We learned a lot that day about the beauty of a road we had frequently traveled.

We also learned to surrender the right of way.

It had not been ours in the first place.  We just thought we were in control .  Perhaps it is often best to just accept things we cannot change.

To follow the herd does not look like a challenging way to live.  It does however look like the path of least resistance.

Yielding our will to circumstances we cannot change is a great lesson in reality.

Jeanne and Ralph -- what an amazing scene you came across!  I'm glad you had the time and opportunity to fully experience it on a path you probably have taken many times before.   Have a great weekend.

What a great story!  That must have been quite an experience.  Your advice that perhaps it's often best to just accept the thing we can't change is so true.  I think too many people, myself included at times, get so frustrated and upset when things just don't seem to be going the way they think they should.  It's times like these when we need to take a step back, relax, and let it go.
