You may bring up to three legal-sized file boxes of sensitive documents in exchange for a donation to Metro-Denver Crime Stoppers.    Last year $56,000 was raised!

Some items you may want to bring to the Shred-A-Thon -
Credit card offers, old tax returns, bank statements, out of date legal documents.

All documents are 100% recycled, after they are shredded, they are Recyclebundled & shipped to a facility where they are turned into paper plates & towels.

Shred-It employees are licensed & bonded and this event will be supervised by law enforcement officers.

Joan - excellent information and I've been hearing so much about identity theft it's really scary. My husband shreds everything - better to be safe than sorry! Have a great day!

Shredding documents at home can be a daunting task...this type of community event makes it a lot easier. I'm sure folk will take advantage of Denver's Shred a thon.

A shred a thon sounds like a good community event to me, we all have documents that need to be properly destroyed.

Great localism post. It is really too bad that our society has evolved to the point where identity theft is such a large problem.

Joan - we have them here (usually to benefit the SPCA)  and people are lined up to do it. What a great idea to have it all over the Denver area on the same day.

Joan, this shred-a-thon is a wonderful fundraiser that also helps prevent identity theft! We have a cross-cut shredder at home, but if someone has 3 legal-size file boxes to shred, it may be faster to bring them in to an event like this. :)
