Effective Campaigning with QR Codes

Make your landing page a capture form

Depending on your point of view, QR codes can be hypnotic or annoying, useful or worthless or resemble an ink blot or a funky piece of art.

Who knew that a two-dimensional bar code arranged in a pattern of squares for the encoding of product information could be such a polarizing figure? But the codes are here to stay and will likely become more popular, so forward-thinking Realtors should think about putting them to use as an extra marketing tool in their belts.

When scanned by a smartphone camera, QR codes can direct a user to any web page you specify, such as your home page, a listings profile page, your contact information or a page with a video giving more information about you and your business practices. Some benefits are that a website address doesn’t have to be entered and agents can track how many times someone has clicked on the code. Some practical uses include direct mailing, business cards, mobile listings, open houses, flyers, lawn signs and in publications or on stationery.

I love that you state not to use a QR code on-line or in an email. Why would someone whip out their smart phone to scan a QR code on a website or email?

This is great advice. I have actually made the mistake of posting some of my qr codes online... And it really doesn't make sense for me to do so... I love the way that you're using them and I am going to follow suit. Thanks for the tips!

Jaime~ I really don't know very much about QR codes and have been steering clear of them.  Now I'm thinking maybe it's something we should incorporate in to our marketing.  I bookmarked this post for further reference.  Thanks!

Hi Jaime

Last fall QR was HOTHOTHOT, have not heard so much talk about it recently, but it's a great topic. I'm so not a techie, and doubt many of my customers were, either, but I experimented, and had a 8x8 magnet of my QR code made for the back of my car. My feeling was that people have WAY more technology in their hands than they know what to do with, so give'em a reason to use it...anyway-have gotten scanned about a dozen times, got probably as many compliments, AND-so far-two paying gigs! You're right they are here to stay!
