Don't Burn Baby Burn In The Tucson Inferno!

Tucson, Arizona.  We are over 100 degrees today. And not a cloud in the sky. It’s officially that time of year when everyone and anyone who wants to get anything done outside – starts heading out by 5am to “get ‘er” done!  Doesn’t matter if its exercise, yard work or simply going to the grocery store – the earlier you shake things up – the better.

Arizona is without a doubt – one of the states with the highest number of skin cancer cases.  Best thing you can do from now until October – wear hats, sunglasses, long sleeve shirts and sunscreen up.

And not all sunscreens are the same.  So if you don’t want to bake, take some advice from the experts:

  • Start by buying a good sunscreen.
  • Also buy a good lip balm with sunscreen – lips burn as easily as your skin will.
  • Opt for the products without oxybenzone – which is most commonly found in the high water and sport sunscreens.  Even though the FDA says it’s safe – toxicology experts claim it isn’t.
  • Pick a broad spectrum sunscreen that covers UVB and UVA rays.
  • Don’t pay more for a bigger number – SPF 30 is better than SPF 85. Even though 85 sounds better it doesn’t work any better or less.
  • If you're going to swim - considering wearing swim shirts with built in SPF factors.

Once you have all that done, wear the sunscreen and lip balm – along with a hat and sunglasses and reduce your risk of baking and burning in the hot sun!

It's getting to that time of year to where sunscreen becomes a must.

Good luck and success.

Gabrielle,

My wife is fanatical about some sun screen, even if I am just showing homes (you know, the in and out of the car and houses)....and I have given up fighting her, LOL.

My son wears a baseball cap and applies sun screen each day before heading to school. By the way, drink more water now
