Ten Seconds

Motivational Power Quote

Ten Seconds

“A lifetime of training for just ten seconds.”

Jesse Owens 1913 - 1980, Olympic Gold Mental Winner

As I see it . . . . . . .

Ten seconds

Jesse Owens quote is a reflection of his Olympic performance in the 1936 in Berlin Germany.

He had trained for a lifetime to compete and win a Olympic gold medal for running the 100 meter dash.

In 1936 Jesse Owens became the first American to win 4 gold medals in Track and Field in a single Olympiad.

His first gold medal was in the 100 meters dash and his time was 10.3 seconds.

His second gold medal was for the long jump.

His third gold medal was for the 200 meter dash.

And his fourth gold medal 4x100 relay team.

As business professional the question becomes do you want to perform at a champion level? And are you committed to your professional development be the best you can be and to run your 100 meter dash for the world to see in your business?

■Professional development prepares you in advance to perform at competitive level and prepares you to handle challenging and complicated condition.

■Professional development conditions and stretches your thinking and capacity. It will expand your professional skills, techniques and methods to and create a strategic business advantage

■Professional development is not a sometime thing it’s a continuous and ongoing process that keeps you on the leading edge of your business.

Champions are made in the thin slices and Jesse Owens case it was 10 seconds.

Create the ten seconds philosophy in your life and you will have the philosophy of a champion in your heart and spirit and it will be reflected in your actions.

So much of what we do comes down to those quick moments on how we answer a question, or the question we might ask that is the difference in building our businesses.

Hours and Hours of training.. a lifetime of eating right, taking care of the body and perfecting the technique for a 10 second competition.  That will make you stop and think, won't it??

Lou,

Congratulations on the feature! When I think about it, our training in real estate is paltry compared to championship athletes.

I enjoyed reading this blog, Lou!  I had kids which were competitive swimmers.  And I can tell you high quality training is important if you are competing at upper levels.  There were many 100 meter races which were swam, that were decided by as little a 3/100ths of a second!   You can hardly see it, but the clock marks it!

Personal Service, always.

It has been demonstrated so many times before. Look at heroes in the military or elsewhere. It is their training that makes a difference although it may only be a brief opportunity.

Lou, great analogy! The key is in the preparation for getting to the point to be able to compete. Those 10 seconds put Jesse Owens in the history books.

I watched an Owens special recently and Hitler would not congratulate this man...he went on record to say that a photo of him with a Negro did not fit his plans....As to owens, he had to compete and take on lots of other peoples baggage and he still came in first...A winner all the way...

Love this. .

A good place for a champion's quote. .the greatest of all. .

I hated every minute of training, but I said, "Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion."

Great motivational piece. I think it takes a heart of a champion to really see it through to the end for that 10 seconds of glory.
