Keeper Of The Gate

By
Home Inspector with Jay Markanich Real Estate Inspections, LLC

In new construction the house is open and airy for a few weeks.

Things come and go.  Materials, people, inspectors even.

Somebody needs to watch over all this activity.

Every house should have a Keeper Of The Gate.

Just to make sure.

This Keeper just stayed to herself.

When I got too close she would leave immediately.

But only briefly and would fly nearby to a tree from which she could continue to watch over things, and not be too far away.

Every Keeper Of The Gate should have its own bubble.

My house has OLD Bose speakers on our deck that made it past our REsiding about a decade ago and we have a really nice nest on top of it....I put dryer lint and our dog fur out in the late winter to assist them in their REdecorating efforts and spring nesting

Good morning Jay my wife likes to put out wreaths (I don't care for them) anyway she put one out several weeks ago and in one day birds had built a nest, laid 5 count em 5 eggs.  She kept track taking pictures etc and last week they were grown and gone

Wallace - we have an annual robin's nest under our deck.  I wonder if is the same bird who comes back every year.

James - that is a convenient spot for a nest, but a little disruptive when the door opens and closes!

Great shot, it's the season for these feathered friends. They can make a mess, but love having them around.

Oh how cute.  I hope there aren't any cats nearby exploring.  I guess that's why they nest up high.

Joe - there was no mess here.  This is the spot between the master bedroom and small veranda outside.  Very nice location for a couple of chairs, and, obviously, a nest!

This nest is 10' high Debbie.  She is safe here.  And on the second floor.  No cat would venture up there.

Andrea - we get a robin, maybe the same one, every year under our deck.

They are very inventive creatures and seem to know what space is best Clint.

LOL, that's funny. You are right, it doesn't take them long to figure out "hey, that's a great place to build a nest" Unfortunately, the nasty old framers will run her out eventually!

Hopefully the babies can fly before the insulators and drywallers hit the scene Fred!

The zoning is probably for a single family residence.  Others will need to soon move on.

Have an outstanding week with your camera in hand.

I think you are looking at a single family, Roy, with a single mom in charge.

Jay, When I see that I think of our Menards (like Home Depot) which at anytime you can see and hear birds in the rafters.

I know Bob.  They are in the Costco here too.  There are little machines there supposedly to scare them off, but they just mock the machines!

Jay -- hope they are able to clear out her nest completely, when they do the next steps, so there is no temptation to break back into the home in the future.

Steven - once they put the skin on the outside of the house (fiber cement board I think) and then the insulation, she will not be back.

Ha!  Instinct!  Don't move and he won't see me.  See?

We have a robin's nest under our deck Jim, which, I think, the same lady returns to every spring.  There are babies there now.

Jay, I used to have one of those on my back porch.  She didn't come back this year - maybe Willie scared her away.

Put out a little welcome mat Pat, and a sign that says, "Pay no attention to the dog behind the curtain..."
