Be A "Wallenda" In Your Real Estate Career!

Nik Wallenda just completed his incredible feat of crossing from the US side to the Canadian side of Niagara Falls.  It was an amazing experience to watch, not only the preparation, but the execution and then he actually ran to the finish line!

Nik's accomplishmentHe spoke of how he was most surprised by the wind that was hitting him and that was the part of the walk that he knew would be his biggest challenge. During the preparation phase he even practiced walking with a fire-hose spraying water on him while an air-boat fan blew on him at the same time.  

He was calm cool and collected throughout the walk.  He prayed during the walk. He even spoke during the walk to the audience (while nearing the end) that the walk was exhausting, yet seeing and finally hearing the roar of the crowds on the Canadian side, he continued on with renewed vigor.  When he was on the final portion of the walk he knelt down, presumably, in respect to his generations of family that went before him.  Then he rose with a smile on his face and started with a walk then ran the last several yards!

After he had stepped down on Canadian soil, Nik said, “I always tell people that what my great-grandfather passed on from generation to generation is to not give up.”


Inspirational, amazing, incredible, purposeful and finally he accomplished a goal that was 2 years in the making.

I know we are not, nor can we ever equal Nik's accomplishment on the high wire, however we can learn from his achieving this goal on a variety of levels.

  • Think of a dream, big or small
  • Set a goal and a time-frame to accomplish it
  • Prepare for all contingencies that may arise during your pursuit
  • Practice, practice, practice
  • Learn what other contingencies may arise and prepare for those as well
  • Practice more until you know you will accomplish your goal by putting it in action
  • Take the first step, then the next and next until you walk (or run) over the finish line
In our world of real estate this could be anything from cold calling, to following up with our clients, to going on a listing appointment, to heading out to show buyers homes, to negotiating deals, or even taking the next step to grow your business to what ever size you desire.

Dream it, Goal it, Practice it, Take that first step then Accomplish it.
