I Can List and Sell With Only a Pen and Paper But the Gizmos Make My Life a Lot Easier!

I can list and sell with only a pen and a piece of paper but the gizmos make my life a lot easier.

I can list and sell with only a pen and a piece of paper but the gizmos make my life a lot easier.

                            Pen and Paper HomeRome

Three of my last four listings do not even use email or computers. Now there is a challenge in this tech savvy business. One of those three is already under contract. It took three days.

This week my 90 year old seller  did not want to join in with the contract discussion because  of his poor eyesight. You should have seen the smile on his face when I showed him his fresh painted garage on the iPad. I was able to make the picture full screen size. That was not very techie but it brought this gentleman some pleasure.

So it does not have to be just techie stuff we do with our toys. A lot is just plain common sense!

If you can't help buyers and sellers overcome objections to list and sell property, believe me a high tech gizmo is not going to make you any better.

If you are not good at networking and meeting others, that new iPad is not going to make you better.

If you can't get a buyer to make an offer, the electronic signature is not going to make you better.

If you can't get a seller to agree  to selling their house and using you, your iPhone is not going to make it better.

I can list and sell with only a pen and a piece of paper but the gizmos make my life a lot easier.

I think you have hit the nail on the head with this one.  The fundamentals still count.. and as you mention the technical stuff just supplements those fundamentals.

Yup.  The gizmos make it easier, but it all boils down to who is driving the bus.

No gizmos needed to gain trust and a client, I think I'll wait for iPad four(important but not vital)!

Margaret

You raised an excellent point. Many buyers and sellers are not nearly as high tech as some of us are, and we should not assume they are, NOR necessarily expect that they will conform to our techie standards. On the other hand showing folks what technology can do can be a very good thing, as you just illustrated.

Well done Margaret. You are so right, we just have to find ways that others can share in our toys ( sounds like joy) and if technology is not their thing, then use it for entertainment. Life is about shared experiences and who knows, this older seller may get one for his next Birthday. Imagine all the family memories that could be contained within the iPad.

Margaret - You are so right.  The gizmo's enhance our ability.  They are tools to help us, but they should never be the be all and end all.

Having a client that doesn't use email is a real challenge Margaret.  I'm such a techy that not using email is just a huge problem for me.  I feel like it keeps me out of trouble sometimes.

This is very true.  Thanks for the mention.  For those wondering about my post, the point is and most everyone got it is that technology doesn't replace knowledge, but enhances it as margarete posts here!

I agree technology is wonderful, its the thing to have but never substitute it for good old fashion excellent customer service and sometimes those are the simple things - basics.
