Kristin -- indeed!   I like the contrast in colors but what is it and where did you find him/her?

Hi Michael,

He was at a bird preserve. I always thought all storks were white as I grew up seeing stork drawings holding bundles of joy (babies) so I had to ask what kind of bird it was. I was surprised.

Thanks, Kristin -- I thought stork at first too but it didn't look like the stereotypical stork -- thanks for letting me(and perhaps others) know.   Have a great day!

Hi Michael,

I love his coloring and I guess I should have put what he was in the post but I was trying for once to be wordless. It is very hard for me!

Hi William,

I find great photo shots are bird and animal reserves, zoos and even just out in rural areas. I found this crane out in a field; no water but lots of bugs I am sure. I suspected he was enroute from South America to Texas this spring but somehow stopped here in Southern California. I was worried about him but he finally was gone after a few days. I read where they sometimes stop to rest up and then go on their way. I hope he made it and didn't get eaten by a coyote or some other predator.

Have a great week.

Hi Sharon,

He must have a long bill to carry all those babies safely to their parents in the hospitals. I was a stork baby believer for several years growing up. My mom was a great story teller. Probably why I like storks and love to take their pictures but I thought they were all white until just recently!

Hi Sharon,

The whole time I was taking his picture he never moved. It does look like it might be hard to walk with those big boats!

How funny! Have a happy Wednesday.

Hi Patricia,

I like the bright orangy-red bill too. This stork has such remarkable markings but such big boat feet.

Have a great evening.

Hi Debra,

Yes, I though storks were about the size of  a skinny goose but they are a lot biger and have enormous feet.
