"Honest Hearts Produce Honest Actions"....Brigham Young

Polonius advice to his son is such a classic statement from Shakespeare's Hamlet and every real estate agent should become familiar with it.  It reads to thine own self be true, and it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man.”

Agents who do not trust any other agent are probably not trustworthy themselves.  Imagine how much easier brokering real estate would be if everyone could be honest about what they’re doing and why they’re doing it.  If agents were honest about their intentions; if agents could learn to trust one another; if agents would cooperate in a professional manner, wouldn’t life in the real estate business be much more attractive?

The insecurities are plentiful in our profession and they create such an undesirable way of doing business.  Some agents have illusions of grandeur, and when the curtain rises and it’s their turn to perform, the act is over quickly. My favorite quote is by Warren Buffett who said, “When the tide goes out, those who are swimming naked are fully exposed.”  I first read this quote on a post by my friend, Fernando Herboso, and it applies so well to our profession in so many ways.

Barbara- I think we start off trusting and then sometimes get our bubble popped. It is so disappointing when that happens.

If the games would stop and agents became more professional focusing on getting the job done, real estate would be a lot easier.

Hi Barbara,

Enjoyed your post as always.  Trust can be tough when it's broken but staying focused on the task at hand can make all the difference in continued success.

Barbara I love the quote...I am dealing with an agent who does not trust anyone and it is tough to work with her. At the end of the day I told my clients the goal is to sell the home and we will do it whether she can trust us or not. We are keeping our relation to the professional level.

Jordon....if agents would do that life would be so much easier....

Ritu....it's impossible to work with an agent who has no trust in anyone.... they make the deal stressful and very bumpy....it makes you question their trustworthiness.....

It's tough to work with anyone who is untrustful. I always assume the person on the other side means well.
