Local Alameda and Oakland magazines are treasure chests of fantastic information
I remember when we first moved to Alameda, I picked up a copy of the maiden issue of Alameda Magazine. I was so happy to read stories and reviews on several events, restaurants, and life in general in my adopted island city as well as the adjoining city of Oakland.
Since then, I have always looked forward to each issue. The wealth of information is outstanding.
One of my favorites is the January-February 2008 issue that had articles about Alameda’s History such as when Alameda was famous for its beaches --- especially Neptune Beach which was like the Coney Island of the west in the early 1900s.
Ten years later, Alameda Magazine and now also Oakland Magazine are thriving. I appreciate the fact that they are also online, and have links to previous issues. So they successfully cater to both audiences who favor print and online.
Every year, they come up with their “Best Of Oakland and Best of Alameda” issues ---- another way to discover local favorites.

Part of their service to the communities is launching the next issues by holding social events at local businesses. The next magazine launch on July 12 will be held at FAZ, newest home for the "Bay Area's finest Mediterranean cuisine."
Here’s wishing Alameda/Oakland Magazine many years of continued success.
