July 4 Fireworks Near Crofton, Maryland

By
Real Estate Agent with Long & Foster Real Estate, Inc.

Many Crofton residents will be celebrating July 4 in their own neighborhoods and throughout the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan areas.  Fort Meade, Allen Pond and the City of Annapolis are probably the closest destinations, but the Baltimore Harbor and Washington Mall will be a popular destination, too.

Fort Meade: Noon to 10:30 p.m. at McGlachlin Parade Field. Fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Open to the public.

Music, food, games, train and pony rides, inflatables and fireworks. Children's rides are free beginning at noon. A DJ will perform from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. The band "New Monopoly" will perform from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for purchase by a variety of vendors. Fireworks at 9:30 p.m. The rain date for fireworks only is Tuesday, July 5.

This is our favorite! There's nothing quite like celebrating our nation's independence while surrounded by the brave military who protect it for us with boots on the ground.

FireworksAllen Pond: 3 to 10 p.m. at Allen Pond in Bowie. Food and drinks will be on sale throughout the Park beginning at 3 p.m. Excellent viewing locations and concessions are available on both the Northview Drive and the Mitchellville Road sides of the park. Grills are permitted in designated areas only. The rain date for fireworks only is Tuesday, July 5th. For more information, call 301-809-3011.

Annapolis: Parade at 6:30 p.m. – Stepping off at 6:30 p.m. the parade begins on Amos Garrett Blvd., and then proceeds right on West Street, around Church Circle, down Main Street, left on Randall Street, and ends in front of the Market House. Anywhere along the parade route will provide a good view of the parade.

USNA Band Concert at 8:00 p.m. to dark at the City Dock.

Fireworks: At approximately 9:15 p.m., the fireworks will be launched from a barge in Annapolis Harbor. The best viewing areas include public spaces Northeast of the Severn River, along the Naval Academy Bridge (limited parking area), any of the street-end parks facing Spa Creek, and aboard a boat in the Annapolis harbor.

Parking: The Park Place Garage, Knighton Garage, or the Navy-Marine Corps Stadium are recommended.

Baltimore Harbor: 4–10 p.m. Live entertainment at the Inner Harbor Amphitheater, Pratt and Light Streets, including the USNA Band Electric Brigade at 7 p.m. Fireworks at 9:30 p.m., choreographed to pop and patriotic music. Prime locations for viewing include the Inner Harbor, Federal Hill, Fell’s Point and Harbor East.

If you want to avoid traffic and parking woes downtown, consider taking the light rail from BWI.

Washington Mall: All day, beginning with a parade along Constitution Avenue at 11:45 a.m. and concluding with fireworks at dark, approximately 9:30 p.m. LOTS of activities throughout the city…

Music: The U.S. Navy Band will perform on the Southwest corner of the Washginton Monument grounds, from 6–9 p.m., A Capitol Fourth Concert will take place on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol from 8–9:30 p.m.

White House Vicitor Center, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. offers crafts, games and other activities.

National Archives, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Performances by the U.S. Army Fife and Drum Corps, patriotic music, a dramatic reading of the Declaration of Independence by historical reenactors, and free family activities and entertainment for all ages.

Take the Metro to avoid traffic and parking woes downtown.

Margaret, Great idea to post firework celebrations. With so many downed trees and wires, hope everything will be cleaned up for the the Fourth.
