An Appealing Entrance Invites Home Buyers

The front door is one of the first things a homebuyer will notice about your home. Nothing is as impressive an eye catcher as the front door. Therefore, the front door will give the buyer his first impression about the home you are selling.  A seller must remember that he only gets one chance to make a good first impression. Take time to observe the front door. Is it aesthetically pleasing? Does it make the buyer want to see more? A new front door is a great way to give your house a sense of style and is a sound investment for the home owner. Create a front door that will appeal to the type of buyer that you are seeking. For example, contemporary styling that is sleek in design attracts those who are searching for a modern home. A Victorian home is going to need a door with carving and heavy decorations. Moldings and raised panels always look appealing for the traditional home. The McKinney area showcases all of these styles. Determine your market for selling. Then determine the type of front door best for your home.

The wooden front door is always a good choice. It is warm and inviting, and possesses interest in those looking for safety and stability. Wooden doors give a nostalgic atmosphere to a home.

Glass doors are great because they let in a large amount of natural light that emphasize openness and congeniality.  Other types of doors include the fiberglass door that is a perfect middle ground in design, or the steel door that is not as aesthetically pleasing but great for security.

Speaking of security - be aware that the area around McKinney has a very low crime rate which offers great potential for the buyer tired of the concrete crime of the big city. Instead, the McKinney area provides the amenities of big town with the structure of the small town.

If purchasing a new door is on the higher end of your budget, consider other methods of creating a distinct, welcoming front door.

The door knocker always acts as a unique greeting card. Both Lowe’s and Home Depot in McKinney offer a variety of choices. Brass is always a good choice. Do be careful not to choose a knocker that touts your favorite football team or school. The potential buyer might not agree with you!

Place a bright wreath on the door. There are a number of wonderful businesses in the McKinney area that carry wreaths. Choose a wreath that signifies the season. Change the wreath each season. This will assure a potential buyer that your home is timely and capable of changing regularly.

Welcome mats say a lot. For selling, you’re not looking for cutesy. You are looking for a mat that continues the theme of your home. Keep the mat in context with your home – a sophisticated mat that the buyer will remember after he has viewed your home.

Last – check the paint job on your front door. Will a fresh coat of paint paired with a wreath, door knocker, or welcoming mat, create the atmosphere you need? Let the front door represent the character and appeal of the house you are selling. Make it the perfect place for meeting guest, especially for meeting a potential buyer.

For what ever reason you are 100 percent correct. Evene though it shouldn't a paint peeling front door can be a deal killer before you even step inside the house. It does set the tone. Your advise and post on types of doors and door knockers was good too.

That main entrance holds the key to our home and the perception others have of it.   A very important welcome to our space.
