The Food Truck Movement

The Food Network has made foodtrucks immensely popular all overthe country, and South Florida is no exception. The trucks move around to different locations every day, and there are many sites set up to let the foodtruck lover know where each one is.

It’s such a fun alternative to cooking or going to a sit down restaurant, and quite honestly, the food is superior to some restaurants (and my cooking). There are even vegan foodtrucks (which I love), so it’s not just for your typical  hot dog cart. Has your city or town caught the foodtruck bug? If so, what do you think of them?

I've been to them once, and I loved it. They were a bit pricier than I thought, but I had a lobster roll and it was clearly fresh lobster they were putting in there. Plus it was just fun to do. Lots of people show up and there are a million choices.

I have never seen or heard of this up here in the boonies... But if I venture south I'll have to see if I can spot one and try it out.

We are certainly overflowing with these in L.A. too.  I haven't actually tried any yet, but the varieties are incredible. I must jump in.

Patty,

I know they are the rage in big cities, and we have not had any appear in Santa Barbara...I am sure they are here by some of the office complexes, and I think they are a good idea.  They certainly have become a far cry from the usual :roach coach: associating they had in the not so distant past. We have Taco trucks or wagons that sit most every morning in specific areas that sell breakfast tacos. You drive up and pick up your breakfast, they go to construction areas and out of the way areas to accommodate folks.

There really does seem to be an influx of food trucks.  It is just a step up from street vendors in big cities in my opinion.  I haven't tried any of the yet.

The food trucks have turned into a very successful business model.

Good luck and success.

Howdy and evening Patty

Patty my friend, there was a Foodtruck that tried to operate here in the Town I live, but a Hot Dog Cart owner had the Town Officals run it off. So I did not get to check it out.

Have a good one

There is a local organization in our parts called the Food Truck Mafia that is the umbrella group for a number of food truck owners. They arrange regular visits by several trucks to Newark, Fremont and Union City. Lots of good food and fun!

Marianna, yeah they are lots of fun.

Caron, just google food trucks in your area, and it should pop up wherever they'll be for the day.

Jane, I imagine LA is like NY, just full of food trucks, and probably some of the best in the country. Let me know if you ever try one!

Alexandra, lol Roach Coach! I've never heard of that! I remember the small ones that used to come to buildings too...nothing like that.

Carl and Ceil, wow that's so convinient. We don't have much of that over here. We have to drive out to whatever location they're at.

Kathy, they get a lot fancier than street vendors. I'm sure there are some trucks that are just like them, but so far the quality of the ones I've tried as far superior to street vendors (not to knock them down either, I know they have many fans).

Lou, yes they have. And I wonder why they've taken off now. Aren't the trucks that used to set up in fairs and carnivals essentially the same thing? But they were never as popular outside of those venues.

Dale. oh that's unfortunate! Maybe he should apply for a permit? Not everyone wants a hot dog all the time, right?

John, oh that's fun! I think that the food trucks here have a similar set up. They seem to all work together well.

Many cities would love to embrace the Food Truck Bug, but many times restaurants, are successful in convincing City Council that Food Trucks jeopardize and snip away their profits.  This is absolutely not true!

Food trucks in downtown and city locations actually enhance business for all companies.

Discount Food Trucks partners with Manufacturers, Finance Companies in getting you operational.
