Pushing past that invisible wall!

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Residential

You can't see it, you can't smell it, you can't really even touch it, and yet it can smack you hard in the face.

That invisible barrier, that solid brick wall that keeps you from accomplishing... well... almost anything.

I had a busy, busy, busy, week last week.  Contracts, Inspections, Closings... it was a whirlwind of busy.  (I know, I know... I ain't complaining... it's wonderful, especially after the horse latitudes of the last few years).

And, as some of you have noticed, I haven't been writing as many posts as usual.  (Thanks to those of you who've reached out wondering if everything was okay... and asking "when can we anticipate some new Alan May posts?")...

During the "busy, busy, busy".. it was hard to find the time to sit down and write... and it didn't help that it was 214° in the shade around here for a while.  I think I may actually have burned my hand on my steering wheel this week... (serves me right for having a black car with a black leather interior... doesn't it?).

I've had trouble getting motivated to write.  My attention has been dramatically diverted by business... the property my buyers have an accepted offer on, didn't appraise.  We were afraid we wouldn't get the property, and would have to start looking again... when lo and behold (that's right... I said "Lo and Behold")... the sellers were reasonable... realized that they'd have the same appraisal issue with any buyer, and decided to accept the reduction to the appraisal price... woo hoo!

My attention has been diverted by my new grandson... (just turned 5 months old... ain't he cute?)... he's growing up quickly... changing daily (maybe hourly)... and I'm enjoying the ride.

But I'm going to make a concerted effort to get back on track.  As my buddy Larry Bettag frequently points out, it only takes a short while to form a habit, and it only takes a short while to lose that habit.

So, I'm going to push past that wall, and get back into the habit.  See you in the rain!

Had the same problem.  It does tend to "get your attention" and take some time to get through.

Contract price - $587,500
Apprsisal - $535,000

THAT was a shocker.

Business and family (especially adorable grandkids) are two very good reasons to be absent. Good to know you're not going to make it a habit to be away from posting though - take care Alan.

I hear you on the "wall", Alan. My cheeks (both sets) were smack up against it earlier in July. And, your grandson is adorable. You can afford a moment of writer's block...we all know it cannot last!

Hi Alan,

everything is going to be OK... Of course nobody want to go back and start looking for a houses again.... Just spend more time with your cute grandson, and "foget about it" (yes, I said foget...)

It's not bad to be away for the right reasons.

He's very cute.  So is your grandson.

And biz being good is a great reason to be MIA ... if for moments in time.

It seems like there are several Active Rainers who have hit that wall recently, including myself. I, too, have been distracted by a new grandson. Wouldn't trade that time with him for anything!

Margaret - much appreciated.

Rose - ain't they fun?

Jordon - it would be nice if the balance of the year matched the first half... wouldn't it?

Tom - not sure about the pearls... nor the wisdom... but I will (hopefully) be typing here more often.

Alan I have found my best blogs are often sharing  the experiences from a hard day at work. As you noted my last blog sure grabbed some attention..... I was thankful you emailed direct, I do wish I would have had access to email you back sooner. You may not know or do and may not remember but you got me over to AR a short 2 years ago from Trulia when you used to leave comments for me. Too bad you did not send me a link because imagine the points...

Scott - I do remember you from Trulia... you always had something good to add to the conversation... It's a shame I didn't "invited" you here... I could have had dozens of extra points by now... yikes?

Laura - let's go with "Pebbles"... at least you didn't say "Bam-bam"!
