Are you going for the GOLD?

Haven’t the Olympics been spectacular so far? Just watching them fills us all with a sense of real estate trainingexcitement and pride. Amongst the outstanding athletes competing is Dana Vollmer who won the gold medal in the 100M individual butterfly. What makes this so amazing is four years ago she didn’t even make the team and was so disappointed and distraught she thought seriously about quitting and never competing again.

But she didn’t quit. She didn’t take the easy way out and just give up. She saw this failure merely as feedback to improve. Instead of quitting she recommitted to her goal of competing and winning in the Olympics and spent the next four years doing whatever she needed to do to be ready this time around.

Are you this committed to your goals or have you allowed some perceived failures to derail your plans?

I have learned through difficult times that it's not what happens to you, it's what you do about what happens to you that is really important.

The thoughts you allow yourself to have are very important. What you focus on will be manifested in your outer life.

You must knock out all negativity.

Visualize defeats and you will be defeated. Visualize success and you will achieve it. What you see is what you'll be.

Set new goals. Believe you can reach them. With YOU all things are possible. Choose to succeed.

Success does not come from where you are but from the way you think. Visualize your dream.

What do you want to accomplish? If you continue the way you are going will you get to where you really want to go?

Dream BIG dreams but accept the responsibility to make them come true.

Do what you love-love what you do.

Be an unshakable optimist.

Never consider the possibility of failure.

Thought for today: I shut the door on yesterday
and threw the key away. Tomorrow has no fears for me since I have found today.

Have a productive day.

Thanks for the great advice Bill. Haven't watched much of the Olympics, but love the line, "what you see is what you'll be."

For me the most impressive words in this post are: But she didn’t quit.

How many people quit with a lot less reason than she had... good for her and may her actions be an inspiration to all "the quitters."

Great inspiration as we go into the late summer months.  It doesn't have to be a slow time of year just because others say it is.

I was thinking the very same thing last night.... If I work as hard at my business as the Olympians do at theirs, maybe I'll win gold too!   I wish the best to all of you Active Rainers too!

Bill - My kids were competitive swimmers.  They swam at Arden Hills, which is the swim club where Mark Spitz trained.  The club boasted 31 Olympic medals - 21 of them Gold.  Olympics time always garnered excitement at Arden Hills.  I remember 1980, when the U.S. boycotted the Moscow Olympics because they had invaded Afghanistan.  We had one swimmer (Jeff Float) who missed out on that Olympiad, but was able to continue training and get Gold at the L.A. Olympics in 1984.  I love the games. . .But it was hard to top the Opening Ceremonies and having the Queen and Bond jumping out of a helicoptor:-)

Set your GOALS and go for the GOLD. I truly agree with you. Everything is possible if you give your all with it. If you visualize defeat you will not achieve your goal. Thanks for this inspirational words.

Thanks Bill, we all have to go for the gold each & every hour of each day.  Here's another point, Michael Phelp's came in 2nd place in one race last night.  He floated in while the guy in 1st place gave an extra 1/2 strok & pushed to get to the finish line (the wall).  We need to give our extra push and not float in.  To get the gold, push and push and push.
