Important Issues Will Be on the Ballot for Elk River Residents!

The Elk River School Board has tentatively scheduled a vote on ballot questions for its August 30, 2012, business meeting.

There are a number of options on its agenda.

They are considering a proposal to add all day, every day kindergarten, which is one of its strategic plan’s primary goals. All day, every day kindergarten is being considered for more than just its educational merit. It’s also being considered to help prevent the district from losing families to other schools for such program options.

While I, personally, think that this is a crucial step to keep and attract families to the area, there are tax considerations with this along with other areas that the School Board considers essential such as adding computer technology to assist the district with staying viable.

There are other issues on the agenda such as how to finance future expansion.  And, I would urge you to check out this link to the Elk River Star News for more information on how this might impact your taxes in the future and what benefits might be gained.

Elk River, your future is at stake and the future of the next generation.  You need to be informed.  And, you can count on me to keep you informed.

School systems are always the top priority for families that have kids.  Doesn't matter if its kindergarten or high school!  I hope they get to pass this proposal.

Hi Don --- a well-informed community can weigh the pros and cons of a situation and can come to a decision based on the facts.  I hope the Elk River community supports this meeting.
