The worst job ever

By
Real Estate Agent with Dominion Real Estate Partners, LLC, Scottsdale, AZ SA582226000

Today, as I was driving from one appointment to another, I used the time wisely to think about a couple of recent real estate transactions which I'm working on.  I really thought that two of them were just not worth my time or aggravation - far too demanding, far too intimidating, far too - well - just far too.  My job was way too hard.

Then, I ran into this and decided my job isn't so bad.  We've all seen those "hard jobs" shows on TV.  Personally, I think that being a road tar layer in the Cave Creek/Scottsdale/north Phoenix AZ area has to take the title for worst job.

hard jobs in Cave Creek Scottsdale Phoenix AZ

Today, we hit a record high of 114 F (but it's a dry heat.)  While my A/C was blasting away in my car using up precious gas, I was still sweating.  But, I'm wearing a short sleeved shirt and a short skirt with sandals.  I am not wearing long sleeves, long pants, steel toed shoes and shoveling behind the tar making machine.  These guys follow behind those tar laying machines which aren't perfect and fill in where needed.

Okay, I guess my job as a Realtor® isn't so bad - at least for today.

I'm not very good in the heat. I really don't know how these guys do it. I hope they get paid well.

The work is not as hard as most jobs but you really have to be nuts to do this.

Every job has it's ups and downs.  Hopefully those guys will decide on their own that they don't need to do that either and go back to school.  At least their phone doesn't ring at 9 pm.

Juli, You put it in good perspective. I can't even imagine being outdoors in this heat.

Juli:  It's all about perspective, isn't it?  But before you are too hard on yourself, just think ... those very same workers you see pouring tar and laboring on the road?  They go home and their work day is over.  They're not listening for the cell.  Worrying about a contract.  On their computers marketing themselves.  Dealing with fretful clients ... or etc.  I'm betting a few of them would say they wouldn't want YOUR job either.  So .. perspective is important.  Each of us finds out niche ... right?

Juli, you're right. That's a terrible job, but I bet being a roofer is even worse! There are a lot of jobs I'd never do.

I appreciate this post and think you're a nice person Juli.  Many people drive past and wouldn't even think about the "job" these men are going and how truly hard it is.

Juli - It does make a lot of what we do look like a piece of cake.  114 degrees is hot with or without humidity.

The worst job to someone, is the best job to another.  It's all in the perspective.  But I'm sure no one enjoys that heat, but when the paycheck comes, I'm sure they are well compensated for the tough roadwork ahead.

Juli, some days we feel like we have the worst job there is, but the one thing I always tell myself is that thing can always be worse...always!

Also as a realtor, you don't have to follow me in the attic where I stuble around the trusses in 130 to 140 degree heat.  There is always something worse.

Well deserved feature - congratulations Juli!  I often say there can't hardly be worse jobs than road construction or roofing down here in AZ!!!  I have to remind myself that after a day of showing fixer-upper investment homes in the dead of summer, however!!  ;)  Stay cool!

You know that has to be one of the worst jobs ever, not to mention the fumes.  There must be a health hazard involved.  Yep, real estate may be a downer sometimes but at least you can do most of it in comfort.  Thanks for sharing.
