Can I get grab bars installed

in my Sacramento shower?

There is a growing demand for the installation of grab bars in and around tubs and showers in Sacramento. Grab bars can be installed to help those that Grab bar installation in Sacramentohave difficulties getting in a tub or shower. Having something secure to hold on to while stepping into a tub can help to prevent injury in a slippery environment.

Important points to remember when installing grab bars in tubs and showers.

  • Mount the grab bars at an appropriate height – check with your local building department for suggested heights.
  • It is ideal to mount the bars to framing members of the wall – try to hit the studs.
  • Keep the water inside – No matter what the walls are made of, you will be drilling several holes in the wall – apply a good quality caulking at each hole.Holes shower grab bars
  • Not everyone wants the grab bars installed – think about the next buyer. Can the bars be removed and be repaired easily?

The best time to prepare for the addition of grab bars is while the walls of the tub or shower have been removed. If you are doing a bathroom renovation involving new walls, this is the best time to add additional backing to secure the grab bars later.

If you a looking to install grab bars in the Sacramento area, consider contacting a qualified general contractor to help you with the improvement.

I pulled one of these quick installs out of the wall by hand last week Lenn. I'm glad I wasn't dependant on the grab to keep me safe Lenn.

Thanks for the comment this morning.

Getting ready for grab bar installation is important, we don't know when we may be wanting to have them in the future.

Thanks Sheila.

Good morning Tom -

Thanks for sharing the information.  My Mom is wanting me install a grab bar in both her tile shower and in her jetted tub.  I think we need to have them installed by a professional.  I'm a handy guy but if for some reason she fell and was badly injured after my installation I'd have a hard time dealing with it.  I hope to re-post this weekend my friend.

Morning John,

I hope your mother get the grab bars installed by someone as concerned as you. Taking the time to do it right will make for a safe and secure installation.

Tom: Whether you think you need them or not, they are great to have for you and visitors just in case. Certainly they should be installed when you are redoing your bathrooms as I am planning to have done. Thanks for this reminder.

Hi Tom - I have a grab bar in my tub area.  It's a horizontal one and when I hurt my back, it was a big help to help me balance in the tub and to get out somewhat gracefully.

Tom:

With out aging population, many people will be having grab bars installed.  I have seen the Home Depot kind that Lenn mentions and they are definitely a hazard.  A contractor who knows what he is doing needs to be hired to do a proper job.  Maybe in Sacramento people should call you.

That is the danger, someone will be grabbing these bars with the expectation that it will hold their weight. If the bar fails, someone will be injured.

Thanks for your thoughts Richie.

The grab bars don't take long to install if everything is in place to accept them Kevin. Remove can be even quicker, the problem then becomes to holes that remain. How do we deal with them: replace some tiles, install new fiberglass walls, caulking, grout? Choices need to be made as to what the final product will look like.

That seems to be the trend lately, maybe the aging demographics has something to do with it Hella.

I would love to help someone who has any questions about the installation of grab bars in their tub / shower Evelyn. This will be something that will grow with the age of the population.

Tom -- thank you for confirming that we did it right.  Had the bar in the tub installed when we replace the tub and put in the new tub surround (faux stone type) -- and had the panel installer do the bar installation to make sure it was done in way that conformed to their best practices.

I can see the advantages of having grab bars in a shower stall, especially for those people who need the additional stability.

We see many people who would not be confortable getting in and out of the tub without the grab bars Morgan. It is important that it gets done right.
