The market has improved tremendously compared to the past few years.We are beginning to recover, and now there are new issues that need to be resolved.Our main goal in real estate is to make the phone ring in order to create new transactions, closings and commission checks.

We can’t accomplish that without marketing.Our marketing must be online and offline.This takes time and money.We’ll have money, if we can close transactions.We’ll have transactions, if we spend the time, but that time is also needed to market.Without marketing, the phone will never ring.I think this is called being “between a stone and a hard place.”

I have a business partner who does all of the work, and I do all of the marketing.I’m her marketing assistant.I’m the one who does the online and offline marketing for her and her inventory.I prepare the brochures, the postcards and I do all of the online marketing.I blog on four platforms, and I keep our MLS listings up to date. What I do is a full time job, and I get paid a referral fee on every transaction.

Without my assistance, Lorraine would not be able to spend all of her time in the field listing and selling homes.She would have no time for appointments, and the number of listings and transactions would be a fraction of what she’s currently doing.

Agents should make a decision and commit to exerting all of their energy to working new business.The business is here, and you must continue to make the phone ring in order to close new deals.The phone won’t ring without consistent marketing.Hire someone to assist you with this task and capture the business while it’s here.

This may be a temporary situation, and you may find yourself with plenty of idle time to learn SEO, online and offline marketing.Prepare for that now by closing transactions that will carry you through another storm.  You know this won't be the last one.

I hired a full time assistantb to start doing a lot of the print marketing for me. It was time consuming for me and not the best use of my time. Eventually I want to get her blogging as well...baby steps.

As Always, Barbara. Some excellent advice for all of us to follow. With all those new goals that I have set for myself for "Going For the Gold", I know that I will have to hire an assistant soon. Leveraging our time is very important for Growing our Business.
