Hello everybody, here's another Things Things To Do This Weekend for August 17-19, 2012 for all of you trying to find something interesting to do this weekend.

Friday, August 17, 2012

Payson Rodeo

The event, which bills itself as the world's longest continuous rodeo, features bull riding, calf roping, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, team roping, barrel racing and mutton busting. The rodeo, which is sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, includes a Tough Enough to Wear Pink night on Friday, Aug. 17, to help fight breast cancer.

Details: Thursday, Aug. 16, through Sunday, Aug. 19. Payson Event Center, 1400 E Beeline Highway. $7.50-$22. 928-474-4515, paysonrimcountry.com.

Rookie baseball

Check out Major League Baseball's future stars at Peoria Sports Complex when the San Diego Padres play the Texas Rangers in a game that will feature a young roster filled with players who were drafted in June, recently signed as free agents and veterans making rehab starts.

Details: 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17. 16101 N. 83rd Ave., Peoria. Free admission and parking. 623-773-8700, peoriasportscomplex.com.

Downtown Chandler Art Walk

Browse the work of two-dozen local artists and enjoy live music at this monthly event. And you don't need to worry about the heat or storms. This month the artwalk will be held in the air-conditioned comfort of the Crown Plaza San Marcos. Held each third Friday of the month.

Details: 6-10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17. Crowne Plaza San Carlos, 1 S. San Carlos Place. Free. 480-855-3539, downtownchandlerartwalk.com.

Mardi Gras Magic

The green, gold and purple beads and costumes of Mardi Gras take over the Salt River during this annual event. Employees line dance and give out beads and T-shirts. Drivers transform their buses into floats with Cajun music and riotous decorations. It's also the weekend before Arizona State University starts the fall semester, so this is traditionally a "welcome back" party for students.

Details: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18. Last bus pickup at 6:30 p.m. Salt River Tubing and Recreation, 7½ miles northeast of Loop 202 on Bush Highway. $15 for shuttle ride and tube rental, $12 for shuttle only. 480-984-3305, saltrivertubing.com.

Sunday, August 19, 2012

Peach Mania Festival

Pick tree-ripened peaches and apples and enjoy an all-you-can eat pancake breakfast, peach ice cream or peach pie at this southern-Arizona farm setting.

Details: 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Aug. 18-19. Apple Annie's Orchard, 2081 W. Hardy Road, Willcox. 520-384-2084, appleannies.com
