YOU CAN GIVE THE GIFT OF BETTER SIGHT -

Recycle Old Glasses... PLEASE

Photo of Upland Host Lions Club Drop BoxThe Upland Host Lions Club is happy that we have been able to make a difference in our community.  Fund raising efforts like the very popular "Fish Bake and Corn Feed" held earlier this month at the Memorial Park have given us the opportunity to provide eye examinations and glasses to Upland students referred to us by the school nurses based upon need. This last year, over 75 Upland students received this gift of better sight and hopefully, better grades.

Lions International, our parent organization, helps those beyond our local communities by providing a glasses recycling program, supported by our local club too. IF YOU HAVE GLASSES THAT NO LONGER WORK FOR YOU, PLEASE CONSIDER EITHER GIVING THEM TO ANY LION CLUB MEMBER OR DROPPING THEM OFF AT THE DRIVE BY RECYCLING DROP BOX IN THE UPLAND LIBRARY PARKING LOT.

Your gift of old or unused glasses will be put to good use.

I think recycling old eye glasses is a wonderful idea and so many of the "old" eye glass frames are still in really good condition.

Brad this is a great idea.  My Dad use to recycle his old glasses.  After all what else was he going to do with them?  Great way to pay it forward!

Brad, your post is a good reminder!  I know I have a couple of pair of glasses that need to be recycled and I bet many more do too.

I notice our Walmart accepts glasses for recycling too.

Alisa,

Thank you for taking the time to respond to this. Obviously you care. While my post was targeted at the localism aspect of my blog, ti is important to know that there are Lions Clubs in many communities nationally, and every Lion can get glasses recycled for you. We even have pre-printed collection boxes placed at many retail outlets, optometrists ant public locations like my photo. It is also great that some of the major retailers have agreed  to have collection boxes.

Whether the boxes are from the Lions Clubs, or from the individual retailer, it only matters that you can help others less fortunate. Again Alisa, thank you for caring.
