Seattle real estate and trees

There was an article in the Seattle Times today about a neighbor wanting to cut down a neighbor's tree because it blocked their view. Seattle has long treasured its views-- of Puget Sound, Elliott Bay, the Cascades, the Olympics, Mt. Rainier, Lake Washington, the territorial expanse of Magnolia, West Seattle, or just the neighbor's comings and goings..

In the 1970s everyone had a view.  The homes were of uniform height and courteously spaced to allow a lot of people room to...view.  The shelter of trees covered some 43% of air space in the city; now it is around 23%.

Seattle was built on 7 hills.  They leveled oneof them at the turn of the 20th century for the dirt.  They needed the dirt to fill part of the Sound...to make more real estate!

My advice, as a Seattle residential real estate agent specilizing in Seattle's best neighborhoods, is:  If you want a place with a key view of water, for example, buy a home with a view and leave the saw in the garage!!

Seattle's a great place to live... Contact me if you'd like to know more..

Devi:  I would think that anyone and everyone in Seattle would cringe over the thought of cutting down a tree.  I hope someone took that neighbor's saw away!
