MaureenMcCabe Joining twitter... from web Icon_star_empty Icon_trash

Above was when I was a brand new baby Twitterer.

It looks like I joined Twitter in March 2007 and did not go back for almost three months. I think @respres (Jeff Turner)  or someone on ActiveRain blogged about Twitter.

A web 2.0 guru speaking at a company meeting said "Twitter."  I think since then I have Twittered more regularly.

Sometimes I like Twitter and other times I don't.  Kind of like ActiveRain... I have used Twitter to rant about my pet peeves about ActiveRain (mindless commenting, ditto comments - for those who don't have an opinion so just leave a comment saying they agree with so and so...who has commented ahead of them, the thanks for the info comments...)  I used ActiveRain to rant about Twitter, how Twitter made me paranoid, last summer...

Someone I follow (not a real estate person) said she's "over Twitter" yesterday.  It happens.  Some people have "got over ActiveRain."

Twitter is micro blogging.  Only 140 characters.  Twitter may not be for everyone.  Twitter could be a great thing though for those who don't like to write long blog posts.

Some people don't have enough imagination to figure out how to use Twitter in business.  Matt Gosselin had a post about a week ago about how to use Twitter in the real estate business.

Use Twitterfeed to feed your blogs. Or don't.  I do.  I get traffic from Twitter. Some say this is not a good use of Twitter, that you should not just feed your blogs.  That you should work your blog posts into conversations.  I feel the little Twitterfeed at the end is more honest than "hey I wrote about that here" but if that works for others on Twitter who am I to say there is anything wrong with the way they are using Twitter?

Do you have to read every word that everyone you follow writes?  Of course not!

I am looking for more local Twitterers.  Local bloggers are sometimes Twitterers..  I am always looking for local bloggers or local non bloggers... Ohio people who Twitter.

When did you join Twitter?

How do you use Twitter?

When did you start liking Twitter?

Influence from the Brian Brady, Dustin Luther panel at Inman... even if I was not there and have not listened to the video... yet I got the message from reading about it here and elsewhere...  Not typically my style but maybe I need to ask more via the blog... if I am going to write the article might as well ask for the business.

pssst...  Darren Rowse of Problogger wrote:  9 Benefits of Twitter for Bloggers  today...

he was not a fan of Twitter originally.  He'll have more about Twitter tomorrow.  He wrote:

"The Benefits of Twitter (to me)

One of the main things that I've discovered about Twitter is that no two Twitter users are using it in the same way. Almost every Twitter user that I come across tells me that they have a different objective when it comes to using it and are benefiting from it differently.

As a result I won't attempt to write a definitive list of the benefits of Twitter - but will share how I've found it to benefit me (feel free to add your own comments)."

I found it on..... Twitter... or actually Gaping Void cartoonist guy... Hugh McLeod (?) shared a link on Twitter that linked to it ... I follow Problogger via Twitter too.

In contrast to this BlogTalk, RealTown's platform to learn about blogging had a link to this article /post from an internet expert ...  "Here's a little secret that pro writers and bloggers won't always share with you."  Use Google Alerts.... wow that's so 2006...I still use Google alerts....  of course.

Maybe pro writers and blogger won't share that because they make assumptions that to be a blogger you should have some curiosity about what's going on...and would figure out Google Alerts on your own...

Maybe by late 2008 or 2009 BlogTalk will be sharing Twitter, Pownce, etc. as ways to know what is going on...

For anyone who does not get Twitter, watch the video on Chris Griffith's AR blog.  Twitter in Plain English

A lot of people have this experience with Twitter. Set up an account, send out a few tweets, then leave in frustration or apathy. Months later, they return. It's all part of the standard Twitter learning curve.
