The Imperial Palace Las Vegas gets saved from the customary implosion

In a town that is constantly evolving there is little that stays the same. One of the oldest names on the Las Vegas Strip will soon be gone. The good news is while the name and look will change the building will remain the same. The Imperial Palace will soon be known as The Quad.

Before it became the Imperial Palace  and had all the additions to the property bringing it up to 2640 rooms, there was a small hotel called the Flamingo Capri from 1959-1979.

The good news is that there will not be another strip implosion. They building will be refaced and the casino expanded. Inside the front desk, bell desk, lobby, casino floor, retail, and dining will get revamped. They will keep some of the best parts of like the Dealertainers, Hash House, and the Auto Collection. It will soon be part of the larger Linq project being done in the area. It will remain open during construction.

When a building is torn down there is a huge amount of waste. The new building that is put up takes many, many years to pay its impact on the earth with energy savings.  The most sustainable thing to do is it to leave what is in place in place. While this hasn’t been the norm in Las Vegas the Imperial Palace was saved for now.  In fact a statement by Caesars Entertainment mentioned “ Caesars Entertainment is committed to environmental sustainability and energy conservation and recognize the importance of being a responsible steward of the environment.” This might be a good proof of that statement.

I wrote more about the changes in Las Vegas in a previous blog. http://actvra.in/HSh
