THE RAMBLER - ONE STORY LIVING IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA.  One story living doesn't have to be in a 55+ seniors community.  Many home buyers are seeking homes with no steps to the bedroom areas.   Some have small children and prefer the absence of steps.

RAMBLERS ARE POPULAR WITH ALL AGES.  The one story home was always popular with home owners until the price of land reached the highs during the 1980, making the Rambler more expensive to build and requiring a higher retail price for home buyers.  The reasons Ramblers are more costly to build include the more expensive foundation costs, higher roofing costs, etc.

LARGER LOTS.  Home buyers seeking one story living today find a limited number of builders with that model in their portfolio.  However, some wonderful older communities will offer Ramblers, Ranchers for sale.  Builders prefer to build the 2 story homes since it is less expensive to build than the one story home. The homes below are in the Purcellville zip code 20132.

LET'S TAKE A TOUR OF RAMBLERS FOR SALE.  To tour homes for sale, just call Lenn Harley, Broker, Homefinders.com, 800-711-7988.  We'll arrange a tour of homes for sale for you and answer your questions.

Hi Lenn.  What is the difference between a rambler and a ranch?

Ed.  Great area indeed.  Thanks.

Conrad.  None.  Depends on where the folks come from.  In western states they're called Ranch Homes.  In the east, they're usually called Ramblers.

I was just on Mosby Street the other day and drove by that house!  That is a very nice neighborhood.  I remember some of it going up.

Jay.  Leesburg has some very nice neighborhoods and they are all convenient to services.

Ginny.  I hear it regularly here.  Only when someone is coming from another area do they ask for "ranch".

Bill.  I hear it regularly here.

Good morning, Lenn.... the phrase "rambling ranch" was used years ago whenever I listed an oversized ranch style home..... I wish there were more of them but they're so expensive to build, builders won't do it on speculation.... it's cheaper to build up rather than out... foundationsa and roof systems are expensive.... sorry for "rambling"

Barbara.  Thanks.  I've been explaining that to buyers for decades.

We do have a large number of great communities build in the 1960-1985 time frame.

More builders are incorporating Ramblers in their portfolio today.
