The reason we should NEVER forget January 1, 2000!

The reason we should NEVER forget January 1, 2000!At some point in the early 1990s, some prognosticators began promulgating an impending cataclysm of epic proportions.

This new “End of the World” scenario did not involve nuclear holocaust or uncontrolled pandemic. Rather, it was based on a simple notion that our dependency on technology, if suddenly interrupted, would plunge us into anarchy, chaos and economic doom.

People actually believed that airplanes would fall out of the sky and the entire electric grid would be extinguished.

As a result, the momentous occasion was saddled with trepidation instead of celebration.

As we all know, when the clocks rolled over across the globe on Y2K, nothing happened.

It was much ado about nothing.

We allowed fear to consume us.

There are those now that are once again predicting an imminent catastrophe.

If history has taught us anything, it is to NOT borrow trouble.

And while our lives may be affected to some degree, it is NOT a matter of life or death.

We will survive! So just relax.

There are businesses making money on this forecasting of doom. Guaranteed!
In 1999 I owned a computer networking business. Our insurance company almost doubled our Error & Omissions Policy Premium because they said they were preparing for the flurry of Y2K claims against all their computer clients.
We had NO claims, but the insurance company had already collected our inflated premium payment.

Had it not been for folks like my husband in the world of technolog that fevorishly wrote code correcting programatic clocks that had no idea how to,roll ove to 2000 and beyond there definitely could have been some banking issues.  Just goes to show how the folks tht wrote that original code weren't thinking very far ahead.

Many of the worries , actully all the worries were man made to excite and panick people into buying things they did not need.  The books for one.

Ah, yes...dooms day in October, right? Here is what I believe: whenever anyone says the world will come to an end on a specific day I am fairly confident that it won't happen as, and this is MY belief, only God has that knowledge ;)
