Reclaimed wood anyone? Have you noticed just how popular reclaimed wood has become,or for that matter, anything reclaimed? Nowadays it's about being "green". Last month I posted a blog in Activerain "What's old is new again" about reclaimed furniture. So using reclaim wood became an obsession for me. I wanted to use it in my living room and thought why not create a false beam? It has the perfect ceiling for it-cathedral. So off I went in search of reclaimed wood. I found this place called "Build it Green" in Astoria, Queens New York. Bought some scraps of lumber. It came out to be around $81.00. Not bad. Then I hired my trusty contractor, Joe Giglio from New Island Remodeling. I was very pleased with the results!
Abella Home Staging- all done!!
As you can see, I mixed old (beam) with new (furniture), contemporary (sofa) with traditional (coffee table) and I am very pleased with the results.
Here is what it looked like before I remodeled the room. A little outdated to say the least! I used this room mostly for entertaining before I turned it into a living room. Hence the bar area is now gone and in its place is a very large flat screen TV (got to make hubby happy!)
This is what it looked like when we originally bought the house!! Even then I could see the potential of this room. I just needed time, and of course money!! The room has been remodeled a few times and I'm sure I will continue to do so in the future but for now all is good!!
