Dandelions for Good Luck

When my brothers and I were little kids growing up in Warren, Michigan we used to blow on dandelions for good luck.

I can only imagine what my parents thought when four little children were introducing all those seed pods for what are considered weeds in the middle of suburban yards.

Weeds... and now we learn that you can make juice and salad from the green parts, even though it is bitter, but they say, has power of healing

Hi Mona,

We used to do the same thing as kids. Always liked to watch the seeds fly away. I never knew I would be pulling their offspring later in life LOL.

Have a wonderful evening.

Best, Clint Mckie

Hi Mona, Neary a dandelion ever went to waste in our yard as a kid. Between my little brother and I, even the ones we had to look for in other yards got attention. Like Clint, little did I realize I would be pulling this weed in even greater numbers than I spread back as a kid. :-) As they say, no good deed goes unpunished.

What a delightful reminder of how little things can bring back memories of happy moments! Dandelions are messy and do produce weeds... But they also have pleasant effects on our psyches!

Mona, it is truly a small world. My friends and I did the same thing with the Dandelion..... I can truly relate!  I grew up not too far from Warren, Michigan and in fact spent time every summer with my Aunt and Uncle there. I still have family in Warren and maintain a Michigan Real Estate License. Thanks for the great photo and bringing back some wonderful childhood memories.

Hi Dianne, who knows?  Maybe as adults we should still be blowing the seeds for luck. In fact, I'm on it!

Goodest of Mornings Roger.......yeah, I am ;-D

Hey Clint, pretty funny but I'm thinking you need to jump back on the dandelion blowin' wagon with me.

Hi William, think of all the photo ops if we return to blowing on the seeds!

Hello Jeanne and Ralph, I think our psyches need more attention and dandelion blowing would be a great thing to do at parties, with kids and grandkids.  It's kind of like a natural heritage, isn't it?

Good morning to you David, it is truly a small world and sometimes silly little posts like this remind me that maybe if we would all just tune in to each other...we would find we have more in common than not...at least that's my hope.  I might blow on a dandelion and turn that into a wish.  Warren was a long time ago for me but all happy memories and I'm sure I still have family there.

Mona, a few weeds sometime populate a well manicured lawn. Sounds like you had a good time! Enjoy your day and the cool nights!

Jason, certainly doesn't!

Wayne, I had a great time and I'm looking forward to doing it again.

Sheila, we make our own luck so dandelions shall be my tool of choice, lol.

Mona, what a graet photo!  The last time I blew on one of these, my next door neighbor started to yell at me for aiming at his yard!
