There are no light days in real estate.

A little down time would be nice!Any real estate agent can tell you that the best way to ignite some business is to set aside some down time for watching a game or going to a family event.

I am not certain how the cosmic forces that control the universe know or even care why I elect to wind down for a few hours, I have just come to understand that the odds that my restful bliss will be interrupted are nearly certain.

And even though we are not doing anything as urgent as delivering babies or responding to intrusion alarms, many aspects of the job are time-sensitive and demand our immediate attention.

All of us in the profession understand that it comes with the territory. And we are always glad to be busy.

But I often feel at times that a little peace and quiet would be nice!

Richard, I find the same to be true of appointments. I will schedule an appointment and before I know it I get three more calls from people trying to schedule appointments the same day.

I wonder if we use some cosmic summoning skill to bring business the moment we aren't sure we really want it. :)

I have had both hips replaced this summer, had some great down time in the hospital. I did get an iPad and hooked it up with the apps, was able to get a listing in the hospital and do the listing contract and disclosures from my hospital bed. Mostly felt good relaxing and the nurses taking care of me, yes, downtime.

Hi Richard,

So true, all we need is to take a vacation and immediately the phone starts to ring and the emails pour in, it's an amazing life.

It's up to each of us to schedule down time. I rarely work on the weekends and I don't work after 5 during the week. I've always been good about not letting others dictate my down time.

There are NO real estate emergencies.

So true...we always say, "if you need to sell a listing, go on vacation". Always works out that way, then every once in blue moon we actually get to sit and relax. That front porch looks nice!

Richard,

There are just some things in the Universe that we'll never be able to explain...this is one of them.

Personal Service, always.

I just took five days off to go to Chicago. No real estate calls for five days! Took three days off at the beginning of the month to go to GA...no real estate calls. Now I am ready to get back to the grind and for the calls!

Richard, the funny thing is that when the chance for peace and quiet first arrives, it's rather unsettling to us. Then, as soon as we are warming up to the idea, things start getting busy again! We have to take it as it comes and be flexible in our planning.

Funny you should mention this, I just commented on another post that the one thing that gets my business ignited is planning  day off or a vacation. It never fails, that is when I get busy , but who is complaining

Each aspect of this industry is critical in families lives. It doesn't matter where we are and what we are doing, we are always helping others. I've met clients in places that many others wouldn't expect to. It all starts with a conversation in any place we're at.

Richard:

The photo looks like a very serene place to be.  Yes, it never fails.  When we have set aside time to relax or attend a family event someone calls us with an urgent request.  And don't even think about vacation.  Every vacation I have taken has been proceeded by calls from people who finally decided to sell or buy.  Yikes.
