Bathroom Trends 2013A lot of discussion takes place regarding what is new and exciting in kitchen design, but bathrooms are significant also, especially when estimating the value of a home. If you are planning a bathroom remodel, either to add value to your home or for your own personal enjoyment, here are some of the "in" trends in bathroom design:

Modern, yet traditional design is the way to go. Simple and clean lines are in, making the heavy, fussy, and ornate look outdated. The new look is a combination of a traditional design mixed with contemporary lines. Neutral, earth tones are back in a big way. If you want that small splash of color, it is great to add this with tile or art work. Cabinetry is trending towards simple lines such as flat panel doors, functionality with taller cabinetry, ample storage, and simple hardware.

Tile is popular with the usage of various materials such as stone, concrete and wood. Mosaics are being featured and can be used in creative ways with geometric designs and splashes of color. Mixing natural stone and shiny tiles is a great way to give different textures and visual interest to your bathroom.

Bathroom Trends 2013Owners are looking for that special retreat in their home making spa like luxury a major push in today's remodels. Heated towel racks , underfloor heating, over sized shower heads, wall jets, and open showers are popular now and will continue to be in 2013.

Lighting is taking a main role in bathroom decoration with chandeliers being a HUGE design feature, while pendants and sconces can also make a great statement. There are no rules regarding lighting, and it is a great way to add flair and your own personal touch. Today there are hundreds of amazing light fixtures to choose from at every price range.

Low flow shower heads, dual flush toilets, water saving faucets are all ways to go green and are features many buyers look for. Features labeled "Watersense" will use less water and save you money to boot. Products such as Caesarstone and recycled glass can make use of waste materials and look absolutely gorgeous in the bath.

Fixtures are minimalist in style with elegant and simple shapes and design. Faucets are now coming out of the walls into vessel sinks and floating vanities. Many fixtures can be an actual focal point of the room. Polished chrome and nickel are back in vogue, while the brushed finishes are slowing down in popularity. Stylish faucets can range range in price, but do not have to break your budget.

A lot of the above is a major "wish list" for the majority of us, but remember when remodeling - a sleek and clean look is most definitely the way to go for 2013.
