Day 11: What I am thankful for? Our Veterans

What is a Veteran? A “Veteran” whether active duty, discharged, retired or My son Mike, My HERO! My Veteran!reserve, is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check payable to “The United States of America,” for an amount up to, and including his or her life.

What is a Veteran? An American HERO. A defender of our liberties and freedoms.

Freedoms of religion,  speech, press, assembly, petition
The right to bear arms
Limitation of quartering troops
Protection against unreasonable search and seizure
Right of due process of the law, double jeopardy, self incrimination
Right to a speedy trial
Right to a jury trial in civil cases
No excessive bail or fine; no cruel or unusual punishment
People retain rights implied, not specifically listed, yet essential to mankind
Powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution

My definition of a Veteran:
a legendary figure,
a defender, guardian, protector, champion, fighter.
a noble person distinguished by exceptional courage and fortitude.

Mr. Webster has it all wrong. He’s listed this definition under HERO.

God bless our Veteran HERO’s and their families (also hero’s in my opinion).

My definition of a Veteran.....HERO! My son, Mike, my HERO!

Diane,

That blank check analogy is about as powerful as any I've ever seen. I guess I never thought of it that way.

Tom ~ I agree.

Rich ~ It really hits close to home when you stand on a dock and watch them pull away on a war ship. There is always the what if.
