So... When Do You Take Your Christmas Tree Down?

Another Sacramento Christmas has gone, the dinner has turned to leftovers, the gifts have been opened, and perhaps the relatives have even headed back Christmas tree taken down in Sacramentohome. It was a great Christmas once again, but now we have to ask the question.

When Do We Take Down The Tree?

The answer to this question can vary greatly. Some have years of tradition, superstition, and even religious background. Others just take it down when they feel like it. When my kids were younger, we had the tree up shortly after Thanksgiving and down right after the New Year. The needles were falling after being up for a month. This was sort of our tradition for many years. You probably have your own Christmas tree removal tradition.

Here are some other beliefs if you are looking for a date to take down your tree this year.

December 31st – If you are superstitious, get that tree down before the end of the year. It is said that you do not want to drag your bad luck and baggage into the new year. By getting rid of the tree in 2012, you start the 2013 year fresh and clean.

January 5th – This is for those that count the twelve days of Christmas. The 5th is the twelfth day of Christmas and a tradition for many to take the Christmas tree down on this day.

January 6th – There are those that remove the tree on the 6th in observance of the Epiphany. The Epiphany is the Christian holiday marking the revelation of God in human form - Jesus.

These are just some date that many have chosen to remove their Christmas tree.

In Sacramento, remember to recycle your tree. The city and County of Sacramento has many convenient options to recycle your Christmas tree.

How about you? So when do you take your tree down?

What is it about cats Bliz? They have all the toys and scratching posts but they chose the center of the tree to play.

New Years Day seems to be a good day because of the holiday. Of course, Gary, we can listen to the football games as we do the clean up.  :)

No Bah Humbug from me Kathleen.

I know people who never have a tree, and that is just the way they do things.

It's funny Tom, but on home inspections, say in July, when Christmas lights are still on the house, I tell my clients that the seller is just trying to be ahead and likes to be early.

I take mine down usually Christmas day or the day after if it is a real one.  Arizona is really dry and the tree is usually very dried out by then and is a fire hazard.  Also, I am so done with the Christmas clutter, I just want thing back to normal.  I guess I am kind of a scrooge about the decorations.

Call me a slacker but mine does not come down until the end of March.  Yes, it is fake!  Season here is so crazy that we wait until the end of it and then have a big take the tree down party.  It has been a tradition for years and one that we really enjoy.
