My First Blog

By
Real Estate Agent with The Bean Group

I'm not sure exactly how this works...not sure if anyone will even listen...but as my mother always says, "What does it hurt to try?"  She's right and I'm trying my first Blog right here on ActiveRain.

First of all I'd like to thank Donna Harris of Dallas, TX for inviting me.  I never would have known about this site and their marketing effort without her.  Donna--I truly appreciate your thinking of me and inviting me.  Thank you!

So what to write?  The market is the market...can't change that.  OK then, let's talk change.  If you can't change the real estate market, what can you change?  The answer to that is simple really.  You can only change the things you have control over.  So if something isn't working right in your real estate business, or your life for that matter...change it...try something new.  Several years ago, I left a 20 year career in customer service and human resources to move into real estate.  Friends thought I was nuts giving up my great job with good benefits.  I didn't care...I wanted something new...I needed a challenge...and I couldn't be happier with my decision.

Big changes often come with big sacrafices and big risks but in the end the hope is a big reward.  This same concept can be applied to your real estate business.  If you always do what you always did, you'll continue to get what you always got.  If the market is changing, then you need to change with it.  So why not shake things up a bit?  Start today.  Start small if you have to.  What does it hurt to try?  If you've tried something new recently, I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks for reading my first blog...see I'm trying something new.  Now, lets hope I make this the first of many posts!!

Sue this is really very good and ty Leanne for pointing it out. I'm going to go in and read your other posts as well.

As for new ideas: well my newest idea is old to most of you; I am finally getting into my own website. It's work like anything else but also fun. And I hope rewarding. There is so much that can be done with a website now and I have a lot to learn.

You have a good writing style and it's nice to meet you at your blog post!

Hi Carole,

Thanks for your comments and for reading my blog.  I've tried to pay as much attention to AR as I can but work and life do get in the way quite a bit.

Good for you on starting a website!  I dove in to that this year myself.  I have a FREE site through Point2Agent.  Great if your a bit technical and don't mind modifying a template type site.  If your interested in getting one, let me know and I'll send you an invitation to get one!!  Great way to market your listings too as they have what is called a Handshake agreement...if you and another agent who uses Point2Agent in your area agree, your listings get on their websites and visa versa.  Plus loads of other things.  You can always upgrade too but in the beginning for me the free features work just fine.  Let me know about the invitation.

Again thanks for writing and good luck with all your new ventures!!

Hi Sue, Life is a good thing!  I have actually had a free Point2Agent website for almost a year now. But I never really did anything with it except to add some listings; now I am in the 'free trial upgrade to professional' mode and have 12 days left on that; so I am not sure I can accept your invitation; if you think I can, let me know and I will work with you on it!

The only aggravating thing about it so far? I have written two side column entries with photos that disappear as fast as I write and post them. Maybe because it's free at this point? And so far no one from customer service has contacted me. Can we email each other off post about this? Thanks,  Carole

Hi Carole,

I'm sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you.  Have actually been busy...thank god!  Anyway, my Point2Agent invitation would be to get a site and as you already have one, so really wouldn't help.  I too took advantage of the 12 days free of professional on P2A but never used a thing.  Not sure what is happening with your side column entries other than if you don't "save and exit" on the bottom all will be lost.  I've had that happen before.

Good luck with your site and enjoy the holidays!

Sue

Although it has been some time since you posted your first blog, it was interesting to read and still appropriate for today's market.  I just posted my first one yesterday, and while it was scary to start, I hope that the next one will be easier.  I am loving activerain and meeting the agents around the country.
