I Am Proud to Be an AR Member - Social Media Can Get Things Done

I am so proud to be a member of Active Rain.  One of our members , Gail Robertson of Fairfield, Ct.,  posted yesterday, February 8th, that she needed our help.  Her post, entitled, Today I was Told by BOA My Home is Going Into Foreclosure and she needed our help.  Gail asked for our help.  She requested that we re-blog the story of her plight.  Her post was featured.

I don't know how many re-blogs and posts to google+, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. that she received.  I know I did my part as did so many other AR members.  I know when I read her post, there were hundreds before me who had responded to Gail's request.   What I read in her post was unacceptable and shameful actions by BofA.

As of earlier today, Gail gave us an update:

"6 PM 2/9/13 UPDATE:  Two Social Media managers from BOA contacted me today and my case will be sent to their Escalation Team. I will know more on Monday and will post an update in a new post.  Thank you all for taking the time and effort to reblog, Tweet, share on FB, post on Google+, and for your comments/calls/e-mails.  AR may not be a face-to-face group, but we are a community in the true sense of the word - a group of people who care for one another and help each other in their time of need.  Thank you my AR family from the bottom of my heart."

This prooves that the power of Social Media, when we band together, can make things happen.  There is no guarantee in Gail's outcome, but WE were able to get the attention of Bank of America.  The comments and suggestions Gail received were so supportive.  So many wonderful members stepped up to the plate.  In reading through all the comments, the combined knowledge that this membership has is truly remarkable!

I pray that Gail can spend time with her ailing husband, who is in hospice care at their home, and not have to deal with Bank of America.  Bank of America needs to step up and do the only right thing, correct their mistake.  We here on AR, have put some pressure on BofA.  Let's hope and pray, for once, they do what they should have done when Gail first started requesting a loan modification.

As I said before, I am proud to be an ActiveRain member.  The power of Social Media can get things done.

Her story mirrors what we hear in the community all the time. IMO, they need to lose their charter.

Bank of America will never see any business from me... not mortgage business or banking business. Over and over again they prove how cold and unresponsive they can be toward their own customers.  If this Activerain effort helped one person, watch out... there will be more such efforts launched and I'll be doing one of them on behalf of the sellers for one of my listings.

By the time I saw Gail's post, she had already written the update, so that's good news. Anxious to hear what they arrive at as a solution.

The responses for Gail have been so supportive and that was my reason for writing this post. I truly am so proud to belong to AR. I have personally experienced the love and support. And now I have seen the power of Social Media. Thank you all for your comments here and for supporting one another.

Dawn, Thank you for your post.  I have another update, which I posted on my original post, but will post here as well.  AR is a very special community.  It is amazing how we have gotten to know one another and care about each other over time.  These relationships are real, even though many of us will never meet.

2/11/13 Update:

Thank you all!  I heard from BOA five times since you all sent out the word into the Internet ethers.  Three calls today alone and I now have one point of contact.  Thank you so much.  I haven't anything to report yet, except that this time it seems like my loan modification has been fast tracked for priority review.  I will report back as I know more.  I really appreciate the help of my AR friends.  I should know more by the end of the week.  I'll keep you informed.  Thank you so much!  This wouldn't have happened without your efforts.

What a refershing story.  I do hope things work out for the couple.  BoA seems to always find a way to be in the middle of the mess.  It is a shame indeed.  Great to hear a positive in spite of that bank.

I loved the comments from Tom and Margaret about not doing business with BofA. Can you imagine the impact on BofA if we all decided not to use them or bank with them????? But for now, I just hope that Gail is able to stay in her home and spend her time with her dying husband rather than fighting with BofA. Kristal ~ REALTORs do ROCK!!!!

Good morning.  Glad to hear we have such an impact.  I hear of folks who say they will only bank there, but I then have to explain why I will never.    Too many stories like Gail's out there....

Thanks for taking it all on ...

I am proud that our community stood behind Gail's family and gave them the support she deserves.  God Bless her for having the courage to write that original post. And I hope beyond hope that she gets a good resolution from Bank of Amercia.
