Chandelier or showerdelier?

I am pretty sure you won’t find a showerdelier on Ebay or at Amazon---or even at Archie McFees.  I am very sure you don’t want one even if you could find one.

This indoor chandelier is not meant for outdoor installation and the fact that it was raining at the time of inspection only adds to the “sparkling & sparky” quality of the fixture.  There is absolutely nothing positive to say about this installation and I certainly did not bother turning it on to see if it worked.  I wish now that I had turned it on because that would have only added to the humor of it all.

Outdoor chandelier

Unfortunately for this installation it is not function that is the problem, it is what happens to electrical components that are not designed to be under water are allowed to be under water.  Over time corrosion of components will occur and subsequent arching and overheating will be the result---qualities that do not bode well for the light fixture or any nearby flammable components.

Time for an electrician.

Nancy, being aware of my own strange thinking at times, I have to think that there are as many weird ideas to create as there are people :)

Rob, it is truly amazing what we attempt to get electricity to do for us

Dan, yes---a whole nuther level

Jeff, of course we pretty much do the same thing with Christmas lights---they however are rated to get wet :)

Ginger, you are welcome

Kat, in hind sight I wish that I had too :)

Jim, it is very very rare in this day and age for a buyer to not get an inspection in this area

Gina, many people may not realize there is a difference

Mike, using indoor doors at outdoor locations is a very common waste of doors :)

Kathy, thanks

Lisa, I think I am glad I don't watch HGTV---not that I know enough about it to have anything against it---I just don't watch TV :)  I watch a huge amount of movies however :)

Joan, and the more time that goes by the more likely it is to become dangerous

Erma, there are certainly safer ways to install lighting for the deck

Joyce, indeed they do

Christina, thanks for stopping by---glad you do:)

I thought a light fixture in the shower was supoosed to have a cover over it!  What are these people thinking?

Oh, it's not a shower?  I thought I saw where it was a shower.

What can you say?  Are they making them dumber every day now?

Pamela, sorry---no GFCI's :)

Scott, there might have been a bit of "hissing":)

Debbie, I think sometimes people simply don't know "what" to think :)

Jay, ah yes---perhaps an umbrella?

Joshua, I am sure that 1/2 of a brain would be more than adequate :)

Fernando, you are welcome

Michael, all it needs is one more bulb :)

Ron, I have heard that myself---about the rain

Chuck, not very often truly surprised---made to laugh out loud at times though

Richie, now that would at least be durable :)

Alan, indubitably
