Why The Police Showed Up While I Showed A House Today

Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Compass, formerly RE/MAX WHP

I took one of my buyers to view a home today and while doing so encountered an experience that I never would have imagined possible. I still can't put <it> together. How could this happen? The home I showed backs up to a very thick and wooded area. It's not easy to manuver around as you'll see in the video below. Usually when I walk through a backyard I anticipate the possibility of a loose dog, or perhaps a mouthy one next door. There's nothing worse than showing a buyer who is suddenly turned off by a growling dog who is scraping at the fence with anxiety and frustration. As you can imagine this doesn't always go over well with a buyer. Today I saw what I thought was a huge dog through the cracks of the fence. As I got closer I realized this couldn't have been a dog! No way. It was too big, too hairy, too bulky and too still.

I'll preface the video below by letting you know that the house we viewed was in a residential restricted neighborhood with an active HOA.

I bet those cops use to be cowboys.  You win the prize for the craziest showing ever.  I just can't imagine what the prize will be.

I've said it before and I'll say it again . . . you have THE BEST stories ever!  I've seen some post on AR with snakes, large bugs, the assorted dogs and cats but never a small herd of bovine . . . and a mule.

The strangest thing I have run into, besides naked sellers, is an alligator pit (with a 6 ft, gator) in the family room and a black panther on the caged back porch...poor animals.

it is so clever that you did immediately video on it.

Key to success: to be ready.

Too bad, that cows don't come with the house...:)

Looks like the Sherrif was pretty experienced in herding the cows.  You had me laughing hard with your narration of the video.

I sold a house with turkeys once, but never cattle ...although with the price of beef that may not be a bad amenity!

I had the police shake me down a few years ago in a neighborhood in the morning because I was looking at an empty home going to foreclosure that morning. The investor was quite shocked. Just another day for me.

Nice, this will make for a good story for years to come. I remember back in 13 I had to wrestle with cows and donkeys just to show a house. Times were tough.  I didn’t have it easy like you punk Realtors today.

Isn't that what Texas is known for--cattle? I'd be a little surprised seeing that staring back at me as well.

What a great story and surprise.  The officers handled them really well, and from the great Texas accent of the girls and the cattle, it had to be Texas.  What a great state.
