Blow out traffic on ActiveRain.com

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Timu Corp - CEO, ActiveRain - Co-founder

I've been browsing through our web server statistics from the ActiveRain.com site, and wow...

Not only did we have our first day ever with over 50k unique visitors last week but we've now had five of them in a row, just missing 60k visitors by a hair on Tuesday.  We've also also had several days this week with more than a half a million page views and 4 million hits on our servers.  No wonder theirs been a little smoke coming out of them.  We are doubling the number of web servers we have to help handle the new increase in load next week.

Looking at the full month of January, ActiveRain.com served up just about 12 million page views, plus a couple million more over at Localism.com  It's hard to compare absolute numbers with other public reporting sources, but its very promising that our traffic continues to grow at a high rate which most of the other large real estate sites (Trulia being the exception) are seeing substantial drop offs.

Matt:  The increased traffic is great news in that the amount of our visitors is up, but even better... that there is more interest in general out there.  Hopefully that interest and the increase in traffic will produce similar results in the real estate market... getting more buyers off the fence.

Question:  We are encourage to post to Localism.  I had not heard of Active Rain until I attended a By Referral Only seminar last August.  I had been on AR for perhaps six weeks until I figured out what Localism was.  Just how is Localism promoted to the general public ?  Is there some sort of AR marketing program for it ?  Just how and where does what we post to Localism have an impact ?  Thanks for sharing...

That's because it works! I've scheduled two listing appt.s just this week and it's ONLY because of all I am learning and applying to my postings. People are searching and finding me, and calling. I'm hooked....

Nice to see the sustained growth, Matt! I'm curious about a couple of visitor stats ... how many consumers are stating initially at AR's home page versus a specific blog post or blogger, and what is the average number of page views? Do visitors tend to go deeper into the site, or are they just hitting one or two pages and then leaving? Thanks for sharing the stats with us!

Most of the traffic enters the site deeply such as to a specific blog or blog post rather than hitting the main page.  The average page views for visit is around 10 but I don't have a break down from members surfing around the site vs. people coming in via search engines.

Matt, those are impressive numbers!

Any word on the progress of AR's paid blog program?  I keep reading that it's on its way, but haven't heard anything about a release date.  Thanks!

Matt, those are some huge numbers of page views.  As the content on the site continues to explode with the expanding membership, I'm sure that new records will keep being set.

Localism is also indexed by the search engines pretty heavily which is the main driver for traffic.  We are working on a total rebuildof the site at the current time (ok we've been for quite a while) but we plan to be able to promote and market it in other methods extensively once we get that launched

Interesting stats between AR and Localism.  I assume many of the page views on AR are other agents, I must look at 15-30 pages per day but never go over to Localism to look around.

Matt, Jason is right. The system here encourages us to "view" each others posts.I would be sincerely interested if you could  "filter" those stats so that you (and we) would know how many consumers are reading our posts.
