SEO your site with a WIDGET

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with RealtyXL Marketing Inc.

Do you know what Widgets are?  They're those little things that you put in your side bar.  You may have seen them with news feeds, or "rate this" type content.

They're handy ways to syndicate your content to other sites.  Which of course creates link backs to your site, which of course raises your page rank, which in tern makes it a good SEO practice to get some widgets out there.

Additionally, you'll find that the widget sites themselves are pretty popular, so just like you can with Social Bookmarking sites, you can use these widget building sites to get found, either directly, or by your content getting found on their site and then redirecting that traffic to you.

One of the keywords that I've been trying to rank myself for is the term "Real Estate Marketing 2.0".  You'll see that I'm spreading the link love around between my blogger blog and this one.

One of the things that I did was take the feed from this blog, and stick it in a widget called "Real Estate Marketing 2.0".

I then use it on my blogger blog, the Real Estate Maketing facebook group I set up and several other likely spots.

To my pleasant surprize, this morning when I used explorer on my wifes computer to search MS-Live for "Real Estate Marketing 2.0" - what do I find but my widget box at number one.

So my advise, go make your own Widget out of an RSS feed from your blog, make another one out of the listings feed you should have on your site and any other content you may be able to syndicate.  With the right keyword selection, it could just put you at the top of the list.

Riel,

Great advice.  I have actually built a widget of my own that gives instant access to U.S. real estate data and area information.  It is on my website www.HouseWealthy.com.  Check it out when you have the chance.

LOL ... AHhhhhh Konnie, My biggest fan

You'll get it ... a nice thing about your POINT2 site is that you have an XML feed of your listings so it shouldn't be too hard to make a widget like this.

just plug in your XML feed - http://www.konniemac.com/Modules/ListingSummary/Rss.ashx?ModuleID\x3d3459433\x26Map\x3dtrue

I've already got my blog syndicated with a widget.  I need to figure out the listing widget now.  Any suggestions?

If your system spits out an RSS Feed, then I think it's just a matter of plugging that in

I've also noticed that several people are posting their listings to our AgentXL.com site using Vflyer.com which outputs an RSS feed of the listings you make.  Should work the same for a widget, just plug in the RSS feed.
