Seattle Real Estate: Looking For New Green Built Homes?

Real Estate Broker with All Seattle Homes for Sale: CooperJacobs.com

seattle real estateSeattle real estate is on the move as far as "Built Green" goes!

If a Seattle buyer wants a home that is environmentally friendly and efficient, then there are fortunately options in both the Seattle townhouse 2008 market and also single family houses.  It seems as if builders are really starting to understand what modern savvy buyers want and the real estate available is beginning to reflect this.

Building green is more than just using energy efficient appliances!

It is even more than Bamboo flooring or highly efficient windows.  There are dual flush toilets, low toxin paints, recycled glass and tiles, plus a whole set of guidelines about percentages of carpeting in building, garage sizes, etc.  There is actually a  whole matrix of different things builders can do to determine how green their home is!  Careful consideration should be taken as to placement on lot, landscaping, materials used, etc., but check out the list to see how in depth these green homes can be!

I am excited to see some of these wonderful environmentally friendly building techniques in Seattle!

I love the idea of solar powered water heaters and Bamboo flooring in Seattle! I love that a builder gets extra points for putting in a food waste and compost bin or worm bin instead of a garbage disposal.  Check out the list before you go visit some of these properties!  There are wonderful built green properties out there, but knowing how green they are will often have a high impact on your ability to enjoy them.

Move up Seattle buyers and other types of specialized purchasing is a great passion of mine!  I love Seattle houseboats and you can find me down on the docks of Lake Union and Portage Bay several times a week.   Other aspects of Seattle real estate that I adore include Queen Anne Real Estate,Wallingford Real EstateBallard Real EstateGreen Lake Real EstateLaurelhurst Real EstateMagnolia Real Estate, andSeattle Waterfront Real Estate.

You should check out the Queen City Eco-Village at the Homestead in Shoreline.  They are a great example of Built-Green homes as they are at the highest rate given: 5-Star!!  They are not my listings, so I am not advertising myself here...just passing along some great info about a true must see.

After a recent trip visiting my son in San Francisco, I thought worm composting was a unique idea.  I did a little research on the internet and found out I did not want to pay $100.00 for a worm compost bin, special bedding, and 25.00 for red wiggler worms.

Thanks to the Internet I found a great resource to build an economical worm compost bin.  See my blog at BertSellsToledoHomes.com Click Here.  Red wiggler worms?  Are they the worms I can buy at a locat bait shop?  I called the bait shops to get red worms.  I asked if they are the same as red wiggler worms.   They don't know if they are the same, and because it's not fishing season yet  they are not in stock.  So I wait and I call.  Then there is  an editorial in the newspaper from Kathy in Perrysburg Ohio who has been worm composting for 10 years.  I write her a letter, and much to my surprise she emails me back.  As she mentioned she would like "to give back to the environment" and give me some red wiggler worms to start.  This past Saturday I met Kathy for coffee, and she gave me some worms.

I now have my 2 worm compost bins in the basement, and my worms have been given their first meal.

I would appreciate any helpful hints?

Bert
